They're adding more to it luckily. I'm hoping we get a bonus dungeon sometime hidden at the base of the mountain, and the ability to get an actual house for ourselves built there, even if it's just an open air house (meaning like houses in other areas, you just run in and can go up/down stairs). I really want to be able to move to that Island and free up my housing slot for somebody else.

Ah man, hard yes to that last bit lol.

I believe Islands are an example of feedback listened to (referencing another thread going on right now) because myself, and a few others, have been making some wishes akin to it for some time. Part of that wish was an expansion, as systems allow, to become more and more housing till it basically is (threads made prior to Island even ). Seeing the exterior decorations added is a huge sign that it might be a potential goal, I had big grin when I saw that news.

On that I of course saw their LL on adding other content so I am excited about it and I know they don't intend to abandon it, awesome awesome indeed- though I do hope they can add 'throughout' it and not just at the top (not just level 13, level 14, etc, etc, but also sometimes content that impacts the whole of it or starts at an earlier level where it could help 'fill out' the experience for new players).

In context of the person I responsed to that started the post you responded to, I give Blue Mage as an example where they added a lot on top, a lot of great spells, and to be fair a little at the bottom (particularly the solo skill), but I feel the bottom still needs polish as a lot of the lower level skills (lvl 50 and below) and just the gameplay progress itself (unless you get help) is lackluster (it does change, it's just not.. imo ideal and is like "crawl on your belly through the sandpaper canyon till you get to candy land" and all I can think is "but y tho? Y have sandpaper canyon..?").

BLU technically has an OP spell for below 50 content, and it's easy to get...if you know where you're going. 1000 Needles. It 1-shots pretty much any solo target, and divides its damage between multiples. It's more than enough to carry you until 50, at which point you're definitely going to have to hunt the rest of the spells down. I always suggest Ram's Voice as an AoE worth getting just because of the Deep Freeze effect, it makes it so easy to murder trash mobs up until I think SB, at which point you'll start encountering more enemies resistant to it.

Eh I didn't want to make it a BLU thread but that is a key part of my critism of BLU, especially at release. Most skills were pretty bad, to the point same level job was on par especially when it was a boss immune to effects (if you argue special status effects on trash packs.. then sure). It was SO MUCH SPAMMING of 1k needles, it was awful imo. Like I hated the experience, especially as I was dreaming of blue normal. "We got THIS.. THIS...!?" Was very VERY unhappy with release blue. The primal skills on oGCD helped but they were bland, as were most 50 and below skills, adding its OP skills were usually their own type of annoyance (like self stunning).

I also got Rams / Dragons voice to replace 1k, as you suggest, and went cool instead of 1 button spam its two.. I will stand and die on the hill that sub level 50 blue mage is just not good. Like.. /NOT/ good. I cannot be reasoned with lol. Speaking sub 50 meaning skills and assuming you don't have friends to force feed you important abilities. Once you get past 50 and you get the key abilities blue mage improves drastically, and the quality of spell design, imo, also improves drastically post 50. I recognize a lot of changes happened to blue, and the simple addition of post skills too, have helped the job out a lot, but I still stand by the feeling that the journey with blue at release was awful and if you don't have help now it's still pretty bad compared to what I think it should be at given it's limited state.

In the threads back then people would say "what about 1k needle, Huh-- GOT YOU!" and I was like "seriously, one freaking spell?" remove 1k and I suppose their self-destruct skills with blue at release and it would have been a legitimately bad job in most boss content compared to similar level jobs. You could even remove three powerful spells from other jobs and they'd still be better, lol. Outside of that comparison level 50 blue and level 50 any other job, the gameplay quality of normal jobs was much better which I found a real shame. That our spell combos were so simple and strict was like.. "why?"... Interesting concepts were in early design but it wasn't really front and center. I like exampling the later skill of ultravibration when comparing it to say 1k needles or other death skills, ultravibration uses multiple buffs, just works, and has a cooldown. Ultravibration is a great spell. The chance spam spells destroy your gameplay quality and, imo, feel terrible to use unless it's going to be a insanely sponge like boss (or you're spamming as a team, in which case it's simply because they die so fast.. not fun gameplay just funny to have 8 players all playing gamble on the boss). 1k Needles should have been differently designed so it didn't displace every other skill in almost all situations, and the other skills should have been more interesting that you didn't drop woody so you could play with only buzz lightyear.. :/

That job was in such a state I was actually having a sour mood about the game as a whole, especially given I was one of the few really pumped and hoping for Blue Mage in the first place :/ (at least on the English forums). My mood has changed a lot now that I've climbed through the pits solo and SE has made a number of additions (SE's additions being important, not just 'suffering through'), and in response I have helped others get good spells really early on to improve their experience. So I feel when you get help or at least are near the end it's not an issue but ... I could write threads and threads on why I think initial release blue was in a really really bad position and how it's progression and spells early on were just.... unfortunate.. Replace unfortunate with whatever angry keyboard warrior word you want lol.

First world problem, no one should be fired, no death threats, but blue mage at release had me outright angry bro and given my history that is an achievement.. .

    6.0 - 7.12.2021
    6.1 - 12.4.2022
    6.2 - 23.8.2022
    6.3 - 10.1.2023

    Average so far = 133 days = 4.37 months

"The major patch cycle cadence will be adjusted. Previously, it was 1 major patch every 3.5 months. Going forward it will be one major patch every four months. Roughly two weeks longer."

Adding extra 2.5 weeks to what is supposed to be 2 weeks is too rough in my opinion.
Love how everyone thought it was an overreaction and it's totally not a slippery slope back in 2022 BTW

Denizens of the deceased thread, from ink of blackest night, I summon you! Come revive this thread!

I am aware that the quote comes from high seraph, I like Athena more, ok?

All jokes aside, reading back through this thread reminds me of how it's funny that no matter how things change, some things will always stay the same.

Sadly what's not staying the same is the patch delivery schedule

We're literally in the 4.5-month era now.

Where are all the people who cried that this was a slippery slope fallacy? Come out and prostrate yourself in front of me and apologize.

Gee, it would have been real nice if someone had warned us that this would happen. It's a darn shame that absolutely no one ever in the history of the world said that we'd be getting 4.5 month patches next. Positively no one did. Definitely not. Absolutely no one.

There are no 4.5 patches in Ba Sing Se.

The "10 years plan" for the game is most likely 2 expansions.
    -1-2 years of 6.x
    -4 years of 7
    -the rest of 8

Taking bets on how long until it is 6 months per?
