He simply cannot die.
His soul is probably wandering somewhere on Eorzea.
I mean, the MSQ even reminded us again how easy it is for him to body-swap and leave his own body on the ground...

I wouldn't be surprised if he joins us on our next adventure, hoping to find a way to die.
