After the way Yoshi-P imitated Neo from the Matrix in the Live Letter dodging Zenos questions, I'm pretty sure he's not dead. And Yoshi-P raised some interesting ideas on whether we saw what we thought we saw with his commentary that what we saw in Ultima Thule is shaped by our perceptions. I didn't play XI but from what I've heard described of what dynamis was there, it seems to fit that idea.

So it may not be a matter of bringing him back. Things may not have gone down how we think they did.

That coupled with the mention that 6.1 would be "confusing" is making me really curious, but concerned at the same time given my distaste for some of the Endwalker's narrative choices.

I'm personally hoping it's confusing strictly in the sense that for once, there's no pressing issues that we have to attend to and perhaps just get to go on a little adventure for our obligatory MSQ dungeon.

Little off topic, just filling in gaps:

Dynamis in FFXI wasn’t a sort of energy, but rather an alternate dimension where “the bad guys won”. Essentially they are just raids set in fallen/“nightmare” versions of the main cities.

Aside from the void/monstrous aspect, it’s probably fair to say the two concepts are entirely alien from one another.

Ahhh, someone described it as a dream dimension or something along those lines. Which could still relate a bit. Alternate dimension - alternate perception. Kind of a similar "what if" vibe.

I definitely think they have some places they can go with the concept that would be quite interesting.

I mean, this will undoubtedly be a thing eventually. Probably the 13th/void world just because it saves huge amounts of time in development to just reuse existing zones as pseudo-raids/dungeons.
