What's your reason for that? Sprout icons indicate a player is new to the game and haven't levelled a job up high enough yet. Having the option on permanently would be like passing your driving test and continuing to drive around with L plates on.

... I mean, here in the UK we have the optional P plate for newly-qualified drivers, because "passed the test" and "feels confident driving day-to-day" are not exactly the same thing
I'd personally like to have the option to toggle it back on after the arbitrary cut-off-point, because for example, I main phys ranged; if I'm going into a dungeon on a tank class, I'd like to be able to flag "hey so I'm not confident at this role yet" - yes, you can do that in /p, but people do not always read it, while the sprout at least seems to be pretty universally acknowledged as "I do not know what I'm doing please cut me some slack / explain things to me".
I don't see why not, but I also see why not.
Do you want it as an excuse? a ticket into the Novice Network? or because you think you need it?
if anyone can put it on, that would clog up the NN, leaving actually new players unavailable to get help from Mentors/other sprouts, especially if they are on trial and cant use the social features. It may also feed people a chip to use to excuse their poor gameplay (albeit not cause of a new player, while new to class is one thing and completely acceptable. If you have a high level and don't understand the basics in expert then we have another problem)
By your post, you are a level or have a level 90 RDM,

I like what CogGirl said and think it is a great idea, add a new status "Learning". This can be represented by a "Open book icon" or a Letter "L". can be toggled on or off at any point, and shows ya party that you're still learning the class and "you are open" to advice/guidance.
I feel sprout has more than just lack of class knowledge, but game/mechanics/etc knowledge as well
definitely agree adding "learning status" my bad for posting this. didn't think that far ahead
Well, you can change your status, much like people putting the busy status or the RP status, but for sprouts, if I remember right, it'll come back whenever you log back in, so you'd have to do it everytime.
When you REALLY want another way to tell people you're vegan...

Yep, aware of that (I'm from the UK) but we don't leave the L plates on after passing our tests (and to be honest, I didn't use my P plates anyway as they can be a target for insurance fraudsters - used to deal with such cases in my previous job, fraudsters deliberately causing accidents with new drivers but in a way that the new driver believed it was their fault because they were new to it all). Anyway, that's beside the point.... I agree having a "new to role/job" indicator would be nice, but something separate to the sprout icon and only permitted for toggling until you reach a certain level on a class by which point you should be comfortable playing the role. There are some who would misuse it so I wouldn't want it available all the time, just until a point where you should know how to play the role you're on. Personally if I'm new to a role I just let folks know through Party chat - if they ignore it, that's on them. Saying that, I've never had an issue in all the time I've played doing that but everyone has different experiences so may not be the case for all.
