EU has worse ping ever before Australia

God I'm tired of hearing EU people blaming their latency to not being able to do a fight.

I'm EU aswell and while we do lag a bit more than others it is not an issue nor cause to getting hit, if you are getting hit by eruptions, shriek, w.e, is your own fault, get used to the latency already, isn't hard... lol

I feel Square should have done an emergency maintenance. The situation has arose due to the taking advantage of the oversight. I personally took the time to learn the normal fight (which is pretty easy, once you understand it) and also participated in the manaburn. The problem I found is that there were people who simply would not try Garuda unless it was a manaburn party.

There seems to be this generalization that Garuda is simply too hard. Well I really hate to burst peoples bubble but she's not. Once you take the time to learn her like any fight she becomes like clockwork and in many ways easier than Ifrit/Moogle. The only difference is that this time the entire party is required and gear needs to not suck. Black Mages in AF i'm looking at you (not hating, I was in AF too when I started :P)

I have quite possibly the worst latency an ISP can provide outside of dial-up. (.110kbps upload as well) to a server that's 75 miles away from my home and I can do that entire fight without getting any sort of server lag.

Grab some friends, learn the fight, and please stop complaining about it. What's done is done, but there's still quite a huge chunk of people on the servers that have yet to clear it.

Hell I'm shocked, 8900 miles in network distance. (I live at the red dot; Norway)

New York is where I live. My latency to Japan has got to be horrrrible. lol.

Don't count on pickup parties for Garuda. Our LS is still doing her for example, though not as often as we used to. If you want to do endgame content, find an endgame LS.

Hold it. Did you actually read what the proxy trace does? It doesn't trace your signal from your pc -> servers, it goes from your pc -> that website's server -> SE servers.

For example it's telling me my latency to SE's site is 3500ms. That's 3.5 seconds.
My actual signal goes to Japan directly, not making a visit to the US as you can see here:



The majority of the lag doesn't come from the distance to the servers, but from the servers themselves and the game engine wasting time waiting for the server to confirm every byte of action you take.

~350ms delay won't lead to me getting hit by sandtraps in CC when i'm already at the Princess.

Seems to me only the most awsome people who have awsome LS or super luck on double/triple melded gear are those who have spammed Garuda like crazy before the fix. Thus putting the distance between elitist and casual even further. Not saying I want Garuda easier, I like a challenge. But just feels like a penalty to all us others who haven't gotten geared up by Garuda release. Hope ppl see my point.

I've managed to survive Aerial Blast a few times, and maybe 3-4 times I've had a chance to get a min or two with "after AB phase" I play from Europe as well and its not easy. The timespan from you see the hint text in log or Garuda on the minimap is so fucking small and gives no chance to react at all. The Shrieks are fine as they take a while to use, but the instant songs are a killer when you have moved on your client but serverwise you're in another posision.

I did Ifrit once and got hit by two plumes at the same time, how is that even possible...
