How to star EndWalker

Just came back after more than a year's absence. Had a Level 80 Dragoon but decided to boost a RDM to Level 80 to start this adventure. Google says to start Endwalker I head over to the Rising Stones but there is no quest there. My Dragoon stopped at the dock where I would have started 'The Grand Adventure' accessing The Grand Cosmos. Even though I boosted to Level 80 do I still need to complete 'The Grand Adventure' before Alphinaud appears in the Rising Stones?

Firstly, to figure out where you're going for any quest you are stuck on, there should be a "current main scenario quest" button on your HUD (upper left corner by default) that will show a map of your next objective when you click on it.

Secondly, specifically for story skips, they seem to always start a step or two into the first quest. I would guess that Endwalker probably starts you off at the Limsa docks near the Arcanists' Guild.

Of course, that actually does depend on you getting a story skip. From the sound of it you bought a RDM job boost, which will do nothing for your MSQ progress.

Thanks, I now see that 'Current Main Scenario Quest' in the upper left corner and it indeed says 'A Grand Adventure'. I did not realize a boost did not include MSQ - it only completes all job quests to that level.

Yeah, your job level is independent of the story, and really just affects whether you can pick up the current MSQ quest or not.

Story skips and job level skips are entirely separate. A story skip will not level you to the necessary level to progress the story and a job level skip will not complete any main story quests.

Really, it's worth finishing the Shadowbringers MSQ first anyway. You'd be very lost going into Endwalker without that context.
