The housing item slots do need to go up, but not to 1000. I think that is way too much because it will cause load times to be excessively slow and the lag.

I've done instance housing before and unlimited housing items for them. The instances where huge and the more items we put in them the more horrendous the lag was and loading into them was a toss of the dice whether you crashed or not.

I get why SE limits the number of items on the exterior, but 20 items is just too small. And for interior the current number is not enough, but you don't know what you asking when you say 1000 slots. It's a crash waiting to happen.

The graphical upgrades SE plans will happen over time. Maybe at some point they can allocate a reasonable number of slots to housing items for each size house. We can only hope and speculate.

Right now apartments and cottages have the best item to space ratio. In order for a large house to have the same item/space ratio as an apartment or small house, a large needs 1600 item slots. I think that is the minimum item slots a large house should have to make use of the space. That being said, for designers who make hyper realistic houses with extreme detail, even small houses only get a single floor filled. I've seen several hyper realistic builds in large houses that are half the size of an apartment.

Housing items limits need to be 5x what they are now for every size indoor and outdoor.

I haven't been able to use over 1/2 of our fc mansion and less then half of my personal Medium due to such tiny item limits!!

    it is sooooooooo over due.

I decorate very detailed and love that, anyone who does (which is a huge #) needs a much higher item limits.

**Also to help ease the need for more items add a resize tool so we can fit carpets into half a floor or ONE partition to cover 3/4 of a wall etc....it would enhance the housing content so much! Rift had this ,I'm certain SE can design this too.

Yep, in a lot of ways, a scale option (can I deam of freeform Z position too?) would reduce the need for more items, for some.

Why does small need to stay at 200? I would like to add more items to my house as well. If anything smalls deserve more spots over mediums and larges since they outnumber them.

That logic doesn't make sense to me. Why would a smaller space to decorate deserve a higher item limit just because there are more of that type?

With all interiors being instanced, it would actually make more sense for them all to have the same limit regardless of size since each is contained within its own individual instance. If 400 items can be loaded in instance A, then it should be possible to load 400 items in instance B even though the layout is different.

I don't think that's actually the right way to go about it, though. Making the limits proportional to "volume" of space makes the most sense. Larges have a much greater volume and so they need the higher limit.

It's annoying when people say small is fine at 200- and I'm assuming it's bc they either don't know how to decorate or have never owned a small and tried to make enough items fit both top & bottom floors.
200 is not enough for a small

Please stop being insulting. Others also know how to decorate. They're not interested in the "extreme house decorating" style that you enjoy and so the 200 item limit is sufficient for them even if it isn't sufficient to you.

We know that increasing interior item limits is on YoshiP's list of things to be addressed so we will probably be getting an increase sometime in the next couple of years. I had been hoping that maybe it would come with Empyreum but there have been no hints so it's doubtful at this point. I'm guessing the next likely chance would be 7.0 since YoshiP has already announced that PS4 optimizations and PC system requirement increases will be happening at that time.

If you really want to indulge your extreme house decorating, why aren't you playing a game that accommodates it? RIFT is definitely such a game (I know that from personal experience). ESO appears to be such a game based on some of the housing tour videos I've watched. Higher item limits, ability to place items anywhere, rotate them on any axis, resize them - all the things this game could use but doesn't have for the extreme decorator.

I'm not being insulting, I'm not saying people are simpletons- But I know not everyone knows how to decorate their houses therefore only see as much as they've dealt with within FFXIV housing system so it's annoying to me when they make statements to exclude something when it comes to house decorating/ interior item limits. They're okay if small houses are left out because it doesn't effect them specifically. But that's not an insult, that's a fact in quite a few cases I've seen on these forums over the past few years.
I get text can come off not in the intended way it's meant to.

But back to FFXIV: When someone won't try to engage in the entirety of the decorating system, they won't realize how messed up it is or limiting it can be- and I've seen people say to basically ignore small housing if item limits are increased and it's like, "but why?"

I appreciate the suggestions but I didn't ask for them or advice on where to go.
I indulge my extreme house decorating just fine in FFXIV- but the truth of the matter is, all house sizes need an interior item storage increase and place item increase. There's zero reason to leave 1 out due to someones lack of knowledge on what it takes to decorate in comparison to satisfaction when it comes to extreme house decorating.

And if we see these changes that have been asked for time & time again in the next few years, remains up in the air. I won't hold my breath.

I rebuild our FC house this weekend.
This is using 200 items in just the top floor of a small house.
