Oh please seriously not going to happen and shouldn't.
Oh please seriously not going to happen and shouldn't.
The bottom line is that Housing in it's current state is fundamentally broken. Broken in the sense that it's disproportionate due to supply and demand. As an analogy: If the foundation of a building isn't functioning properly, it doesn't matter how shiny and new you can make the rest of the building, it will still be unstable. The core of our Housing system is unstable and no matter how much we build on it it will in it's core still be unstable.
Well, so why does SE simply not add more wards? Or open a new one every time one fills?Afaik, the housing ward system was a design decision on SE's part, not a server limitation one in regard to giving everyone an instanced house. Something along the lines of liking the neighbourhood aspect it could create.
Housing plots weren't even available for purchase by individual players at the start, and were entirely exclusive to FCs. They likely didn't expect just how popular housing would become, once they did allow individual players to buy them. The result being the current shortage on a lot of servers.
Although I'm not really a fan of OP's way of simply scrapping the entire system.
If it was that simple, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
You are absolutely right it will "probably" never happen. However if we don't speak up about alternatives or suggest ways to improve things they will "definitely" never happen.
If you don't like the idea that's fine, you are entitled to your opinion but could you at least elaborate why you don't like it so that we can have a discussion.
It seems to me that everyone is so fixated on the OP's initial idea of destroying the entire housing system that they are completely disregarding the rest of their post and not giving them a fair shot on any of it.
“Fair Housing for everyone”
“Workbench allowing us to create more then just houses”
“Scheduling Board for the FC”
“Trophies and Rewards for the FC to work towards as a team”
And just the fact that they are differentiating between the the FC house and personal house and that they should play different.
I think these are great ideas, and instead of shooting the OP's ideas down we should acknowledge that some of this stuff is pretty cool.
I for one like it, if you don't, instead of posting how you don't like the idea of the current system being destroyed, post in your own ideas to how we can improve.
Destroying people's existing housing to grow some green shoots in the burnt-out rubble is very much a Putin-esque nuke option.
Any suggestions that are dependent on that first step... still depend on that first step. Destroying things people have, love, and have for the most part spent a lot of time decorating.
The best we can do is hope for decent instanced housing after 2025 when SE can hopefully start putting some of their new servers into housing. That can run parallel to the wards. No nukes needed.

I felt that joke was very insensitive and out of line. There are real people really suffering in the world right now fearing for their lives and loved one. We shouldn't make jokes about things like that.
Please keep to topic and keep it civilized.
No joke in it, it's how I feel about Mr Putin. He has overstepped the line of decency and gone against the world, He alone is threatening good people's homes, lives, and families.

Comparing pixelated housing issues to what's going on in Ukraine is cringe and tone deaf. Let's leave current events out of this conversation.
That's a very Hydaelyn way to do things!
Jokes aside, I kind of understand where you come from...It's true that neighbourhood was a great and fun idea on paper, but the reality stands that there's seldom a rat in wards. I've personally never seen my neighbours. Also, as someone that loves visiting people's houses, rarely seen anyone in those wards either.
However, the housing system has been there for almost a decade now, so it's here to stay. They can't decently scrap it off like that, it would very much tear the player base apart. It's not nearly a sound approach. If we were still within the first 3months of implementation that might have been a possible way, but after years it's not even a possible thought.
