Feasible alternatives? "Hey, Square Enix, remember that housing system that's limited by your lack of server resources? I have a great idea! Scrap that and replace with even more resource extensive one!"

The instanced housing crusaders fail to realize that if SE had ability to provide every player with 600 furnishings slot instanced house we would not be having limited amount of wards anyway.

Afaik, the housing ward system was a design decision on SE's part, not a server limitation one in regard to giving everyone an instanced house. Something along the lines of liking the neighbourhood aspect it could create.
Housing plots weren't even available for purchase by individual players at the start, and were entirely exclusive to FCs. They likely didn't expect just how popular housing would become, once they did allow individual players to buy them. The result being the current shortage on a lot of servers.

Although I'm not really a fan of OP's way of simply scrapping the entire system.

Well, so why does SE simply not add more wards? Or open a new one every time one fills?

If it was that simple, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

For starters lets be honest neither you nor I know how much server resources the current housing system takes, nor do we know how much server resources my alternative idea will take. All I know is that scraping the current system will give us resources that could be used more efficiently.

As for "if SE had the ability to provide every player with..." They have already demonstrated in the past that they can to some extent. Just look at Final Fantasy XI, everyone had an instanced house in that game, you started out with it. That game is almost 20 years old and in it's peak, everyone still had instanced housing. To elaborate further, when you moved you alliance to a different city your furniture would stay in place while the house would change location and the walls and the like would change to the new city's style.

(Before someone gets triggered and tells me to go play FFXI then, I do, I actively still play both FFXIV and FFXI)

The bottom line is that Housing in it's current state is fundamentally broken. Broken in the sense that it's disproportionate due to supply and demand. As an analogy: If the foundation of a building isn't functioning properly, it doesn't matter how shiny and new you can make the rest of the building, it will still be unstable. The core of our Housing system is unstable and no matter how much we build on it it will in it's core still be unstable.

I'm all for a better instanced housing system but you've gone overboard into making it something complex and restrictive when that isn't necessary.

All you need to do is look at the housing systems in other MMOs.

Other MMOs with housing have been able to do it (and more).

We don't have it here because of a design choice that isn't working out so well now that the game is far more popular than SE ever expected it to be.
