Last thing devs mentioned about Xbox version was that it was completely put on hold when covid came around. For the most part it was pretty greenlit but SE had to put full focus on EW release. Guessing once things settle with launch and server/data center updates we could see them pick it up again, but feel like it might be something 7.0 or beyond with all the push back.

2.- There's a weird clause in XBL that says you can't be in a clan with people on another platform. AKA you can't be in an FC with a PS/Steam person.. or something.

The last time YoshiP talked about Xbox was that he did talk to Phil Spencer but they were not on the same page. Likely because of those things above. He is adamant that XBL Gold should not be required, and rightfully so.

i'm in a Destiny 2 clan with 5 other ppl who play on Xbox, one person on ps4 and i play on Steam. that "clause" sounds like bs misinformation.

this "XBL gold requirement" is ancient news. its not the case anymore. it needs to stop being parroted. i don't even think Phil Spencer had the reins when they were saying that.

99% chance its a manpower issue. pretty sure there was an interview where Yoshida literally said the sole factors was workload and order of how they're gonna do it.

and it makes sense; dropping a new port for xbox is a giant workload for a dev team that just about released their own expansion on time, and had their servers buckle under the pressure of their playerbase. i wouldn't expect anything til like 7.0, maybe even further.

It's really in Microsoft's court now. As you say, they're going to have control of WoW in a year and will no doubt port it to Xbox. Now that they've got what's effectively the top MMO title, do they think they would still benefit by having FFXIV?

SE only stands to gain by adding Xbox players to the game. There's no reason not to want FFXIV going to Xbox short of things like the XBL Gold issue getting in the way.

My only defense is... we have the moon T.T - I love the moon. :c - But yeah I dunno if Microsoft cares anymore. To be honest do you think Sony stopped them? They are keeping the other FF titles off xbox apparently.

Thats what I'm wondering too. With Bethesda they have Elder Scrolls: Online and Fall Out 76. While ESO might not have the same clout, its still one of the more popular MMOs and they gave it Xbox-only enhanced upgrades while ignoring the Playstation version. The also brought over PSO2:NGE and now they got WoW in the roster soon.
