The first part of a new expansion ffxiv is always the meatiest. I agree that EW being a tad much with cutscenes but we were warned that it would be for very obvious reasons. Recall that post-expansion, we get our stories in small doses, typically being able to complete those msqs in an hour or so. As such, I don't expect future releases to be this heavy, unless it's to tie major events like EW did. With that said, I would very much like to either have both or if not possible, rather retain more narrative when new expansion hits, because I trust the predictable nature of ffxiv to release gameplay content evenly after is done.
