    What a day...

Hroth...Vieras (why is my sunglasses still broken? Should I even ask this? ) ... healers... housing... This game is starting to make mobile MMOs look decent. At least those games I know I could always go back to a house and healers are engaging..sigh.. but this is why I just stopped doing combat..barely care for the story now that the ark has ended. I still have crafters and gatherers to amuse me but...I really wish there was still a challenge to them outside of just master craft..there's always achievements to go for anyway. Welp...

    What a day...

Honestly I don't think the game is heading for the grave anytime soon. We've just hit a huge rough patch due to any number of factors.

If I wanted to hazard a charitable guess, I'd say that development of 16 puts strain on the various teams that would normally have focused on 14 solely. Whose fault is that? No clue. Don't care. My utmost concern is that healing is fucking boring. The rest I can deal with and often even deal with happily. So long as healer is a required role, however, I really wish they'd give more than, what was it... three questions ever in live letter updates? and assigned only casual-play devs to the entire role of healer. Regardless of how anyone feels about doing actual healing, that is a disgusting lack of attention when compared to every other job change, skill alteration, redesign, etc. for tanks and dps. Even if you want a super simple style of healing, you still deserve more dev attention than that. It's one thing to argue on forums about people's attitudes, it's another entirely for the only question in hours and hours of Yoshi-P personally explaining new things to involve healing in any way was a snide, minimizing remark about how we just want to suffer.

Trust me buddy, Broil, Broil, Bio 2 Biolysis is suffering enough.

Grave? No, but I do think Endwalker is pretty much going to be the peak of FF14's popularity. Not because the game is getting worse (that's never stopped people before & I don't feel like it is), but because there are a unique combination of factors that I don't see ever being replicated again, and newer people are not going to handle the flaws that this game always had and probably always will have as well as a lot of us do. This will give people carte blanche to say it's dying until the end of time, though.

It does seem like a high point, for sure. Player influx will slow and eventually even out and we'll get a better idea of what the population trajectory will be like (and it's just realistic that it will be downward, it's just a question of how steep). I'm just saying there's a lot of doom and gloom talk going on about how this is some final nail in the coffin when I highly doubt that's the case. Hyperbole only helps when it serves a purpose in my opinion. I've also been reading several different threads and my mind has a hard time keeping them all straight, haha.

Never mentioned it was dying anytime soon. This being a franchise game, it could go back to the low population of players it had in HW or even 1.0 and still be operational. I'm not the doom and gloom type and if anything I needed to type that out to get my thoughts in order of what keeps me logging in vs what doesn't lol. But with all the bumbling I just saw... I can't even be mad or shocked if AST's big change is something intense like ripping out the cards entirely and them somehow giving us even more heals because... reasons.

China and Korea have been hard at work trying to come out with the next big games and at this point I'm rooting for them lol. China is supposedly releasing a big title in their country, Justice Online to global and if its good... could be the competition this game needs. This whole situation is like Genshin Impact. No other anime game can compete with it and therefore, they also have moments of not caring about the play bases cries when things don't quite workout. They just role with it and proceed with the next character release.

That being said, at least I understand why they broadcasted that they were hiring during those live letters. Perhaps they truly are struggling to keep up with demand and are now scraping for any form of quality.

I don't think this is the end of FFXIV. It certainly could be the point at where it begins to spiral down to WoD levels of WoW, but it is also too early to really say.

Healers have always been a major issue in FFXIV.

Same as housing. That they've gotten worse in EW instead of better is saddening, but unsurprising.

The story... well to be fair to the team they were planning on expanding it for another expansion. Cramming all that into 1 and post patches? Yeah I can see it suffering.

Hrothgar and Viera issues... eh I'm not gonna touch on those. Not to say the players of them don't have valid complaints, its just that I have a lot of vitriol to spew on that topic and its not all pretty. I'll keep that to myself if you do not mind. Point of it being here is, its a trend.

That SAM/NIN changes are also causing backlash... Well... MNK, MCH, BRD, DRK and WHM say hi. Tis not new. It just wasn't as universally disliked.

Which is probably why everyone is looking to the negatives. A lot of the newer ones (latest housing issues, Hrothgar hair, MSQ) are all one things people can see and get together and rally behind. They aren't some far flung issue the vast majority will never touch.

I'm tired of being told to wait for post-patches and expansions for fixes and increased healing requirements that are never coming. Healers are not fun in all forms of content like all jobs should be, they're replaced by tanks and dps due to low healing requirements and their dps kit is small for 0 reason, when in the past we had more options and handled things just fine. I refuse to play healer in roulette come DT. I refuse to heal EXs, I refuse to go into Savage, and I am boycotting Ultimate.

    I fully agree.

Oh hey, sorry didn't mean that to be directed at anyone specific. It's just a vibe I got and I was airing some thoughts it evoked. I understand needing to get this stuff out. Heck, I'm here too aren't I? :P

Oh no harm done lol. I get with all the rage happening...well it's not so bright around here and for good reason. It's a good way to vent in any case, ha!

All I can do is laugh at all the memes that exploded everywhere about housing. Along with just coming up with the most depressing changes to happen for AST just to lower my expectations through the floor. At least I'll be prepared. Otherwise, I'm back into the permanent "wait and see" phase that we healers have been dealt...

The only content I ever wanted to be engaging in terms of gameplay was the Normal Mode stuff, I was really hoping Endwalker wasn't going to be easy because it was the end of a long chapter.

    But no

Its the same thing over again with the same problems since 2.0, and even the final boss was easy beyond belief as you would think the finale should be special in some way because you beat everything else that tried to stand before you.

That is not very satisfying honestly nor engaging, however, this was a great story but I really hope they don't repeat a casual easy with wheels mode again whenever there is another FF MMORPG, I'm chalking this one up as a lost cause that relies on Extreme and Savage too much that has no connection to the story whatsoever.

At least the Alliance Raids are the only thing going for it at this point in terms of engagement and has actual stories unlike the Extreme/Savage raids.

why dull the player's stimulation like this? Is having a mass crowd that so important the devs are willing to sacrifice challenging battles in Normal Mode content for the sake a few more bucks? I don't like that.

    EDIT -

Just to clarify a bit here, I'm saying that Story Mode Bosses should be just as challenging at least as Hard Mode and nothing more, and those Overworld Monsters and Dungeon Monsters need a serious re-work instead of just boring the hell out of the players.

And that EW Final boss should have been at Extreme Level instead of just being something optional in my personal opinion if this was suppose to be the finale, it doesn't feel right as it is. How are players going to get any satisfaction out of that?

I guess I better be ready for more the same with this new chapter coming up, I'm sure those bosses are just going to be pushovers too like everything else.

I'm sorry, maybe I'm just not the demographic I guess and I'm asking for too much.

I don't really mind regular MSQ content being easier, even if it's easier than I'd like sometimes, but end game and beyond (starting with expert roulette stuff, lv 90 dungeons that sorta thing) I do expect some kind of hike in difficulty. If there is challenge to be found it doesn't apply to healing, that's for sure, and most of my experiences in duty roulettes are just the tank pulling everything and seldom needing anything more than an occasional heal, then needing almost nothing against bosses. Even as I've given up on healing and just focus on dps, it's not super satisfying.

Maybe if the telegraphs for every attack weren't 10 seconds long and the boss wasn't at 40% health by the time it gets through its explanatory round of attacks there might be a bit more fun to it. The Magus Sisters fight can be pretty fun. Anima is also alright though not to the same extent. Really strange that difficulty seems to go DOWN over time in EW.
