Delubrum Reginae - The Raid that Defeats One Spiritually

I ran Delubrum Reginae for the first time since I've been running Bojzan Southern Front instances - I was interested in finishing the story.

Boy, what a terrible experience - the worst I've ever had in 8 years playing this game. I feel incredibly disappointed, defeated, and that honestly I should just quit this game.

This instance, with its grueling and cruel two time Doom mechanic, is soul crushing. I felt like I've learned NOTHING in the years I've run all the numerous dungeons, trials, and raids that I've run.

Normally, Savage level content is great! It's used to get amazing gear.

    ...Not to continue story arcs.

Between the absolutely horrid excuse for a "duty finder" that doesn't set up proper parties to actually BEAT this raid and the soul crushing mechanics, I'm really upset and astounded this is side quest STORY content.

Likely this will get buried, and no one will see it nor care. You all just made an 8 year player want to quit. Apparently, I'm very terrible at this game.

Sorry for your bad experience. You're not alone! Even when it was still very active my first few times were crushing as well. What kind of helped me was to look up some of the mechanics to avoid getting hit by doom all the time. Good luck, you're not terrible!

I wouldn't worry too much. If you have no intention of building a relic weapon, you can run Delubrum once and then forget it. If you want to farm for relic instead, well, first of all i suggest you to use PF, never DF, also spend some Bozjan clusters to buy green essences (the pure ones), they'll give you a very nice dps boost. As for the mechanics, there are some very exhaustive guides out there, especially for hot and cold and chess. If you have an experienced player in the party you can mark them with a "safety dorito" and follow them, in order to avoid all the aoes. Hot and cold and chess are the only mechanics that can't be called out, since they're personal.
I'm a very average player and, for example, it took me several runs to understand how to resolve season of mercy correctly. Once you get used to everything you may even start enjoying running the content.

Back when it was current, you'd learn the raid over multiple runs. After a few runs, you should reach the point that you don't die more than once or twice. None of the fights are beyond normal difficulty mechanically, they just feel overwhelming because of the twicecome ruin.

I think DR is definitely on the harder side for a new player.
Having said that, there are a few things to know about DR which can help. Like all other normal content, DR is very easy once you get the gist of it. This may take about 3 runs before you understand everything.

Bring some defensive essence and graduate to offensive ones once you get an idea of what's happening.
Focus target an experienced person and follow their lead. But understand that there are specific player mechs as well.

When and if you want to actually grind this out for your relic, I would suggest researching on joining a Party Finder setup to bring DR specific essences. These cost clusters but you can also buy them on the market board. These essences only work in DR but they give amazing stat bonuses. With a PF, everyone brings one of these essences. The overall dps is so high that almost all mechanics for each boss is skipped and DR itself takes 13-17mins. So in the end you don't really need to understand everything going on.

Honestly, I'd say skip defensive essences altogether. They are essentially pointless as they won't save you from the doom you get for failing multiple mechanics in a row and if you are dying from things that aren't the doom, your healers just aren't doing their jobs. I'd say start with skirmisher/aetherweaver and then upgrade to more specialized stuff/DR exclusive essences when you've got the hang of the dungeon.

Everyone dies a lot on their first time through Delubrum Reginae, even the best players. The fights are all new to you and it's extremely unforgiving if you mess up more than once. Just don't let the mettle loss discourage you too much. You'll quickly get that back in Zadnor.

The first time is always rough. It doesn't matter what you have cleared prior to this.

The two fail Doom mechanic is required. Since any job can tank, heal, and DPS, the damage from the mechanics are low. If the two fail Doom penalty was not there, groups could easily just heal their way through the raid.

I have ran DR a little more than 100 times. I have seen no tank runs, all DPS runs, etc. Yet, somehow we been able to handle all of the mechanics. You do not need the traditional set up, you fill the gap with essences and lost actions. The game hands you enough of those to get through DR a handful of times.

First time I did this raid was actually the best and most fun time because every death teaches you how too make them right next time. The fights are actually dangerous and have interesting mechanics. And the mettle lose is almost non existing when you get in zadnor straight after anyway.
