Since the question of glamour restrictions went unaddressed in the recent Live Letter, I wanted to bring up a more specific suggestion outside of removing role limitations across the board, which is a pretty extreme change that can be open to misinterpretation IMHO.
Instead, a more incremental approach may be better received by the development team. If the Job/Role requirement were lifted off DoH/DoL gear or there were replica versions (probably obtainable through some way that requires having leveled the class), that would be a pretty major step to varying the glamour system in an aesthetically friendly, immersive way that wouldn't infringe on the vision of FFXIV that the developers want to preserve through the current glamour restrictions (whether or not you personally feel that perspective is justified; I don't want that to be subject of discussion here, if possible).
Crafting job sets are more like "themes" than true class fantasies, in the same way that the Craftsmans' Singlet is clearly based off a general crafting theme as opposed to the RDM's chapeaus which are explicitly tied to the archetype of a specific adventurer profession in the setting.
It would also encourage people who don't usually take an interest in crafting or gathering to give it a try for the glamour rewards, which seems like a very reasonable prize for an otherwise small part of the game that rewards you with gear that currently sees very little use in the majority of gameplay despite being so incredibly well-designed. I won't mention the lack of glamour plates here since more are in the works come 6.1, according to today's Live Letter.
This seems like one of the first logical steps to me in taking a more open-ended approach to glamouring. Where does everyone else sit on this?
TL;DR: Glamour restrictions should be removed from DoH/DoL Job Artifact gear and/or there should be replica versions.
