Ishgard Housing No Lottery For Wards

Lottery system sucks, generally during content drought moments not many people are playing and its really easy to pick up a house. With this new lottery system even during those times its gonna be an absolute gamble whether you get it or not. Not in favor of it either. I already have a house and Id rather placard spam all over again then to compete in a gambling system where the odds are stacked against me.

Chances of getting a house when there are 99 people who have put in a bid: 1 in 100 (yeah yeah 1:1000 or 1:5000 if lots of people want the house. I know it's not always going to be 100)

Chances of being online, not being beaten by someone using a script/bot who has a better machine or stripped down client to minimize lag: Impossible to calculate (by someone without server metrics) since there are so many factors at play.

The odds are NOT stacked against you, there is just no way to "boost" your chances via script/bot/excessive amounts of free time. No matter what anyone wishes to spend on the new system, they will have an equal chance dependent purely on how many people have submitted a bid.


I wouldn't want the one advantage I could pull over others removed either.. but it's the fairest system we could have objectively.

The odds are not "Stacked against you" they just aren't as favorable as they once were since you could affect them personally.

The biggest problem with lottery in my view is you get one shot with new ward releases and you have to wait not sure how many days before you find out. When you do find out all the houses will be sold. With new ward releases and fcfs you may not get your house of choice but there will be multiple opportunities for less than desirable locations especially with smalls.

You don't need to be the first or near first unless you want a medium or large and getting that small can be doable fairly easily unless you are on big servers like Balmung. But even with Balmung I had two friends get homes on Balmung last release then relog on Siren to find many houses still available and one of those friends was able to transfer to a more desirable plot.

Now with all the new people who have joined the game it's hard to say what will happen this go around with log in queues. Seems the populations have exploded to a point it's really hard to say what would happen until release day. I was able to get a large on Siren with Sirogane Savage back when Shiro first released but I doubt I'd even be close this time around. I transferred a character to Sophia and would like a shot at a house but even will all the housing open in all regions I'm wondering how that lottery is actually going to play out. On Spriggan in the EU houses were available and open for a very long time before they filled all the plots. Judging by the log in queues and the number of people I'm seeing in cities on Sophia and elsewhere the servers seem to be pretty full., Now how may will be able to buy houses is an unknown.

So I'll just note for the people who suggested creating a bunch of alts for extra entries - A fresh alt cannot actually walk into Ishgard and buy a house. You must meet several in-game requirements to access the Empyreum. IF you were to create a bunch of alts AND fulfill all of the requirements on every alt AND won the house on one of those alts, the house would be bound to that alt with absolutely no way to transfer to your main. The "Instant transfer" system was removed in Endwalker so you wouldn't be able to take advantage of that any longer. It's not practical if your goal is to have a house on your main character. But....I guess if you wanted to make your winning alt your new main then...maybe? It just seems like a huge waste of time for very little if any reward.

Who says that the Alts arent prepared already? ;P The FC Leadership is still tranferable even if it takes longer with 6.1. Doesnt matter.

Plz SE just leave it as it is and only use the lottery system. The people wich complain here are some with to much time on their hands and maybe also living in a good timezone which makes things a bit easier. All they want is getting the shiny carrot first before everyone else does. People like this are exactly the reason why all houses where gone in the first hour during the previous expansions when a new housing zone was released, thinking they are something better and people without one allways had a hard time because they couldnt fetch their dream plot instantly when somewhere something was free.

The lottery system is the only right and fair way for both plot and non plot owners, working and non working people to have equal chances without sitting 24h in front of the screen and clicking the placecard like a mad monkey. Everyone who says something else just thinks he is better than the rest and should have and easier time than everyone else. So just leave it like it is.

Both systems suck and neither solves the problem of housing being a limited resource. But I doubt SE is ever gonna actually rework the system as a whole, so I guess I'll get my one chance ever at getting a large and then just resign myself to never having one if the lottery doesn't roll in my favor.

I am here to support the fairer system, lottery. Full 100% will be great.
However, if the dev want 1-2 ward for placard would be fine, but lottery system should be the way to go
Of course lottery system would mean less chance because of more players, but the higher chance of winning with placard come with expense of spending hours and days sitting outside the placard, a very unhealthy setting and literally stopping a lot of players joining either the lack of time or found the system terrible

Since I own two mansions and have no interest in Ishgard housing I have no chocobo in this race. However, if they should keep it full lottery the GC has no one to blame but itself BTW.

It would be so much easier, If we could buy 2-3 Room Apartments, with a Balkony and with some special Pots to Plant all Stuff that you can Plant in a Garden if you own a House. I would pay even 1 Million per Room which would be 3 Millions for a 3 Room Apartment. It can't be so hard to make those Instanced Apartments in the Crystarium, in Garlemald, Old Sharlayan. SE makes enough Money with the 30+ Million Players + the Shop.

Also, someone mentioned a pertinent point earlier which I would like to bring to attention.

FCFS wards mean that those who have time on their hand and are able to login at patch release has multiple chances of getting a house.

Even if they lose their initial attempt at a FCFS plot, they can keep on trying repeatedly until all FCFS plots are fully taken up. After that, they can still join in the lottery pool if they still fail to get a house.

What this means is that instead of the one chance per lottery for most players at a house, these players would have multiple shots which is highly unfair to the rest of the player base. Unless SE is able to lock in players who opt for FCFS and block them from subsequent lottery plots, I would highly oppose the creation of FCFS wards.
