They look nice, but forgive me but isn't this just different lighting and shadows? The Models still look pretty basic.

That is all that I want to see. I like my characters as they are and I don't want their appearances to change.
If they tried to upgrade the actual appearances, I would be concerned that they might move in the direction of the trailer animation, which I think makes most of the cast look less appealing than their in-game models.
That's fair, but then why is a shader that going to do a little more than what Gshade already does for me take over a year to implement? That is all that I want to see. I like my characters as they are and I don't want their appearances to change.

I'd much rather they focus on a completely new engine and bring this game into the 21st century.

Goes to show you have no clue what's going on if you think it's just Gshade, they have to upgrade textures and glamours as well and they mentioned not every NPC and glam piece will get touched in the go-around.
Alrighty, so over a year, with increased cycles between patches, before they even do some of the characters and other models.
Lel.

Probably because they have to juggle doing that along with everything else. It's a no brainer that significant graphical upgrades will take a good bit of work and time. What we are seeing is essentially an engine upgrade in progress.

I'm more interested in the improved animations they mentioned.
I really hope they manage to make the facial expression changes look more natural, and for the slim chance that they rid Hrothgar of the shit-in-my-pants stance.

They look alright. It's been a long time coming, I'd have to see more pictures though - with different lighting. The eyes in particular look pretty good.

Nice. Finally my rig can flex its muscles. Many players around me still bottlenecks it though.
