It sucks it is always going to be hidden gorge, might as well permanently remove Astragalos from the Duty Finder if they had not done anything with it for the past few years now.

This was before I started playing, why was it even removed?
The map had some issues with the layout and how the mechs could attack the core so it was disabled for a rework![]()
Astragalos was not a well-designed map for several reasons.
One of the biggest ones I recall is that the eastern base has less safe angles it can be attacked from by oppressors then the western one due to differences in the terrain.
So, who else thought OP was talking about the current 8-man raid from the title, and didn't remember there was a PvP thing called that?
Be honest.
When I read the title my immediate thought was "What? it's not locked, you idiot!"
Turns out I was the idiot all along... Astragalos was the one with the Alexander mechas, right?
With 6.1 supposedly bringing some actual updates to PvP, other than just adjusting attack potencies, maybe they can finally fix it to let people in...
You don't want to play Astragalos in its current state. Not when matches only have a 15min time limit. All matches would end with a time out. The map is too big.
They need to give the map a makeover before making it available again. To bring it more inline with Hidden Gorge.
If they had plans to make adjustments, it was most likely pushed back when Covid happened.
I was always under the impression Astragalos was disabled because the map was simply to large and matches took to long to complete in the eyes of the devs. Astragalos is a lot bigger than Hidden Gorge is and takes robots and mammets a lot more time to travel from one side of the map to the other. Astragalos also lacks the Goblin leader guy and the armored Goblin tanks. They also cut the instance timer in half after Hidden Gorge came out. So with that in mind, matches simply take longer in Astragalos than they do in Hidden Gorge. Keeping control of the middle was also a lot more important since there were fewer stray fuels to collect. In Hidden George, the fuel is all over the place. In Astragalos, they were in the direct center, the direct north, and the direct south, and barely anywhere 'outside' the caves. So Astragalos also had a lot more shields and walls to protect players especially from robots, where they could destroy and attack things from the safety of the caverns.
Astragalos also had a lot of weird spots where Oppressors could hit the core from incredibly far distances unchallenged. The Turrets 'use' to be able to hit the Oppressors in those locations but the turret range was nerfed to compensate for Hidden Gorges smaller map and to keep people from sitting in the turrets for the entire match; cause that's exactly what was happening. Though that wasn't to bad since a MCH could run up to a turret from below and dps them to death. Which is another change they made with Hidden Gorge. As for the special spots where Oppressors sit to reach the core, Hidden Gorge has a pixel perfect spot in Hidden Gorge where they can hit the core from the very middle of the map as well. Which is currently the most optimal way to hit the core in Hidden Gorge.
Personally, I always like Astragalos more than Hidden Gorge. But I recall the reason it's mostly locked is because they wanted faster, quicker matches. They essentially want matches to be decided in 5mins and not drag out. That's why it's so hard to make a comeback in Rival Wings. They simply do not want you to comeback, they want the match to end.
