Toxic DPS

I don't tank in dungeons. Plenty of alternate paths to max level.

I'm fine trying big pulls and agree with others that "you pull you tank" is a bad mentality, but even then it's never enough. Tanks are basically the group slave. It's considered acceptable to sprint into mobs, rescue the tank into mobs, for healers to get mad if they want smaller pulls, for groups to get mad if the big pull wasn't big enough, to blame the tank if they pull big and die.

I just skipped dungeons and stick to raids. After all the mindset is, "if you can't handle abuse, don't join as tank", so I don't. They can enjoy the queues.

I wouldn't let the conversations in the forums discourage you from tanking if you want to in groups. Most people in game are far more polite and patient then we see in threads here where people argue.

I let the forums and reddit convos scare me away from tanking for years but the reality of the in-game playerbase is far different.

Its hard for any new tank. I remember when I was a new tank years ago now. As you know in ARR content during a certain level range the armor you can get on your legs makes it so you can't wear any boots which people did not understand. Thankfully I have run into those tanks and cheer them on as DPS and Heals gangs up on them.

Just got out of Saint Mocianne’s Arboretum (Hard) as DRK. Pulled roughly two mobs at a time and at one point a SAM ran ahead and started fighting another mob while I and the team were still dealing with my current pull. I responded “Don’t pull ahead of me, please”. Their response? “Then pull like a man.” I explained I’m not a tank main and going at a pace I’m comfortable with and to not be a dick. They responded “Don’t make me laugh”.
The last boss they and the rest of the team died to failed mechanics but I managed to solo the boss from about 40%. It felt good, but my mood’s been soured from this toxic DPS. Is their behavior reportable? If not, how do you tank mains go about dealing with it?

Ngl, I would've responded "well, I'm not a man, got a problem with that?" and watch the SAM get himself suspended with his next answer.

I have had that issue. At this point you need to let him die. I respectfully as a tank ask if they pull some sort of mob run up to me as a tank and let me AOE the mob. Its simple. If you want to run ahead and pull thats up to you but if your DPS or a Healer and want to bring a mob to me then great unless it causes the entire party to wipe.

There’s isn’t a dungeon above 60 in a non Minilv run where it’s remotely practical to be so gentle with pulls. Your actively slowing down for literally no reason, take a chance! Pull more what’s the worst case scenario? Dying? Then just pull less if your healer or tank can’t handle it somehow

How do you even fail at mass pulling above 60? By then three of the four tanks have all the tools necessary to straight up run on autopilot. Once upon a time so did DRK, but that was before the best parts of its kit were torn out and given to other jobs.

Dungeons typically go 2 big pulls, then boss, 2 big pulls, then boss

You get 25s cds, 60s cds, 90s, 2min, and invul(4 to 7min)

Not knowing dungeons can make it tricky, but generally every pull I plan to use 2x 25s cds, a 60s, and either a 90s+120s, or a 120s+invul

I can do this on pld without issue, and on warrior it’s not even necessary w2w is braindead, but drk? No idea
I know you can’t heal yourself and your invul kinda sucks, so..
