Back in Heavensward/Stormblood you could make 600M in a week for Savage tiers.

Ironworks crafter set and Heavy Metal crafted set were going for like 1-3M per piece during content drought. Compare that to what we have now, the equivalent of which is 30k crafted rings.

So yeah, gil has gotten harder to obtain.

The people who are shaming you, OP, are probably not that good at making gil in the first place, don't worry.
I agree. Most of these people most likely think 2 million Gil in a day is a lot, when that’s actually really meaningless, lol. I don’t want to crap on people’s accomplishments but that’s really not an accomplishment. Back in heavensward patches, you could expect to earn 15+ million Gil per day and 100+million during a new patch with new raid gear.

It’s harder to earn Gil now because Crafting is too accessible, which is what Yoshida’s goal was from the beginning. The data center visit, world visit, accessibility, removing Gil from scrip turn ins, etc…was all to make Gil harder to earn. Did it make crafting more accessible? Yes. But it also made people who were rich from older patches even richer and much more rare to come by. Those players are now the top 1% of players. So it really only benefited those players in the end.

It's true though, gil has become harder to make and there are more gil sinks than before, so the situation for the average player can be pretty bad (with the increased teleport fees and all)

In shadowbringers, people were making coffee biscuits and getting 1.700.000 gil for 100 leves (that get completely refilled in about 2 weeks). Because of that in endwalker SE has lowered the amount of gil you can get from leves like that. The current best is tsai tou vounou, you get 1.000.000 gil for 100 leves and it requires 1/3 of the mats you needed to gather for coffee biscuits. Among the gil sinks they also made every purchase and selling of items on the mb taxed, and with the higher teleport fees and more gil sinks like the gilded mounts. The state of the MB is pretty dire as well, everything is way cheaper now. But you can still make constant gil. I make 6 million a month without even trying. Send your retainers on ventures, gather a map a day and maybe do a map every once in a while and you'll have a constant influx of gil for minimal effort. (right now doing the solo maps is more profitable, so you don't even need to rely on other people)

Dunno what to say. I make millions this way:

    - Do world visits and note prices for whatever the popular crafted gear is for the time being ('Classical' right now, the 580 stuff).
    - Note cool things like, "wow, the history shows that on my server, this piece sells regularly for 100k, and here it is on some other server for 30k. Yay!"
    - Buy that stuff and repost it for profit.
    - There are enough examples of gear flipping available daily to make millions and millions of gil. Sure, my 70k profit is a prime - and rarer - example, but even half or a third of that isn't bad when you're moving volume.

It's virtually no effort. Set up a favorites list and hop servers, check the list, compare prices, buy, buy, buy and then sell, sell, sell.

I don't know how much Gil you need, but if your goal is in the 10-50 million range, that's really easy to achieve. I've hit the low end of that range, doing what I've described, and I've never touched a crafting material. I only started this game last July, and all I have leveled up is SMN, BRD in progress, and FSH at like level 15.

I disagree. Lower prices benefitted everyone.

The rich though now are just sitting in wealth that they will never use due to this while the average player can actually afford things without a ton of grinding or getting lucky drops.

    Lmao

“MyNameIsGil GilSeller: Gil is so hard to get, if only there was an easy way”

    10/10 definitely not an advertisement.

Pretty much this. The only people upset about things being cheaper are the ones who used to make massive profits lol

Okay side-tangent: Is there an easy way to tell what crafting materials are from newer content as opposed to older ones on the Market Board?

"The people above who are all saying that gil is easy to obtain probably think 1M a day is some big number LOL"

There are still a lot of gil sinks in this game. Hiring crafters for your static, that's easily 200M. Buying enough materia took me 70-80M for the Savage tier. I also hired a designer to decorate my mansion once, that was like 100M or something. Buying FCs, that's 200M-999M for a mansion. Want to decorate? Walls can cost 10M-20M on the relevant patches. I can go on and on.

Obviously most casuals won't ever spend this amount of money but hey, just because you can't see a use for gil doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Raiding in particular is very expensive if you're hardcore. The materia and gear costs on day 1 per person can go up to 80M. I'd imagine it'd be cheaper in 6.2 and 6.4 since you'll have time to stock up on materia.

Or... Hear me out... You can level crafters yourself. I made my own food and gear for the tier at the start. No ones paying 200 mil for gear lol, and if they are, well, that's on them.

Anyone spending that much gil on a mansion is just validating scalpers.

And even then, you are talking about the minority of the minority. 99.9% of players have nothing to do with any of this

To be fair, the only people upset about wealthy players are the ones who didn’t dedicate enough time to crafting and gathering back then. As far as I’m concerned, those rich players deserve it, and they deserve to be the top 1% of players who own a large amount of Gil for a reason.
