I don't know one single person who thinks this game is flawless and perfect. Could it do some things better? Absolutely. Is it a good quality product and arguably the best quality MMO on the market right now? Yes.

I mean to be fair there is no way I recommend someone to subject themselves to starting from ARR these days, assuming they want to play a video game as opposed to reading a visual novel. Heavensward and beyond maintain better pacing and the battles last longer than 10 seconds. Having played through the original, the state of the starter experience is unrecognizable to me.

They do need to be a fight, because a lot of people make criticism of the game without understanding why it is the way it is or why their criticism can't be be addressed. The developers don't post much to defend themselves, so if players don't do it then no one will. If no one plays the defense, there will only ever be negativity like how wow is and that is not good for the game either.Okay but why do discussions on the forums turn into something that has to be won? That's how threads devolve into arguments where people are just spewing insults at each other. It's an open forums where people express opinions and ideas, no matter positive or negative. It's not about people battling each other. Not every discussion has to be a fight. It's extremely unfortunate that you feel the need to approach discussions in that manner
A fight? Not a discussion? Not an exchange of ideas? But a fight…. That’s extremely unfortunate to hear (read). Aggressive tactics are not necessary. They do need to be a fight, because a lot of people make criticism of the game without understanding why it is the way it is or why their criticism can't be be addressed. No, it doesn't need to be a fight. It should be a discussion. Heated arguments and insults aren't going to change anyone's mind. In fact, it's just going to make whomever you are fighting with just completely disregard everything you say, valid or not. The developers don't need to defend themself. If someone has a critique on the forums and the developers don't agree, they just won't acknowledge it. They don't need people to scream and yell in their defense because someone has ideas of how something could potentially be improved upon...They do need to be a fight, because a lot of people make criticism of the game without understanding why it is the way it is or why their criticism can't be be addressed. You can disagree with an opinion and still remain civil.
I do not agree that it is the duty of a portion of enthusiastic customers to tell other customers what feedback they are 'allowed' to put forward.
This is especially true of customers who, in response to almost every suggestion made related to the game, emerge to insist that everything is fine and nothing needs to change.
And what if you're up against concerns for which there is a lack of a suitable/strong defence? You can relay the perspective of the developers (to the extent that you're aware of it), but I don't understand what "winning" has to do with it. It is incumbent on the developers to convince consumers to consume their product. This isn't a court case. Trying to play it like one won't work. They do need to be a fight, because a lot of people make criticism of the game without understanding why it is the way it is or why their criticism can't be be addressed. When the game's story becomes self-aware:
This thread contains the exact same faces as the other two buzzing threads. It's like having the same conversations but in an entirely different thread.
But yes the game does have a toxic positivity problem. I'll even say it's an FFXIV evangelist issue. However it also has an extreme negativity issue too. The community is just toxic in every direction.
Every single gaming community is tribalistic to the max. You see it no matter where you go. Mobile games, fps games. In twitch chat or on twitter. If you make an observation that points out a flaw in someones favorite video game, you're personally attacking them and their entire life. Its sadly not just XIV.
Own 123 of 126 gunblades currently in game. I like gunblades.
