FF14 and toxic positivity

Lately with the boom of popularity that the game has had, I feel that (enforced) toxic positivity is becoming more and more widespread both in game as well as in many communities outside the game.

People can't complain or point out flaws with certain aspects of the game without being told to shut up or being called trolls.

Especially in-game in the novice network, dear god is that a cesspool of ego. Anything but praise and awe is shouted down.

What are your thought about this? Do you feel it's a thing or did I just get unlucky and see a lot of bad interactions lately?

There are valid critiques as to how the game handles a variety of things, from the 2018-2019 era of troubles that saw the introduction of limited jobs followed by limited races, to Shadowbringers making the decision to frontload with crafter and gather content as opposed to battle content, leading to a drought once covid hit, to Endwalker's hit or miss story beats.

Having been here since day 1 of ARR I'm a big fan, but I'm also not going to ignore serious flaws as they arise.

Why everything that goes against the popular opinion is brushed off as nothing more than low quality bait is beyond me. I understand that this guy and his many alts do post troll threads. But there are also times where he does have serious conversations.

Whether you like it or not, toxic positivety is very much real and quite prevalent from my own experiences in game.

I personally enjoy hot topics more as they are less likely to become echo chambers where everyone just validates each other’s opinion. These topics are more diverse in opinion

I literally said the same thing lol you worded it WAY more eloquently than I ever could

anyway I think that's just a growing problem with a lot of communities (marvel movies, star wars, wow, ect). it's seen as an attack on their interests so getting defensive and deflecting criticism is bound to happen.

I think the worst part for me is the emotional manipulation that happens at times, people bring up Soken having cancer or the devs going through a hard time during COVID and fans being terrible to them as a way to deflect criticism, which is just awful imo. reddit is pretty bad for this with people not being totally happy with EW especially
