I don't see any issues with the engine, but I'd like to see all the little annoyances eliminated.
Thank you Yoshi P, our pleas were heard. No I don’t think they’re going to change out the engine now but as long as graphics do improve so we keep up with the times this is a great compromise.
They said it was the first graphical update, so it seems they are making a decision to do more than one if needed.
If executed decently well here’s to another 10 years in this game.
Not expecting insane changes, but hopefully they’ll address shadows, polygon counts for blocky hands and feet, that weird teeth issue someone was mentioning in another thread in keepers, texture resolutions, faces, hair… we’ll all the rings that add up to a better game. ( I do know a lot of these were touched on PLL, but not all)
And an update of the character creator with more options would be nice. We will see if they consider it.
They said clipping likely won’t be addressed, that’s fine imo, that would be a lot of detailed work when much bigger graphical improvements can be made elsewhere in exchange.
Most importantly.
THANKS YOSHI P
We do feel heard, and thank God were not going the FFXI route.
As someone who still enjoys classic games from 10, 20, even 30 years ago (I'm 37), the engine really isn't an issue for me lol.
100% for an engine update. It's crazy how people are like "This game got 10 years more for sure" but then when something janky happens they're like "Well it's still 1.0 engine/codebase so what can you expect?"
10 years from now the gaming space will be drastically different. They're going to need to do an engine update to keep up with modern games -- sunk cost and Final Fantasy fandom can only carry a title so far.
