Can we not shame people who don't like the MSQ?

The cult-like fanaticism surrounding the game's story is honestly scary at times.

Here are two very easy things for the fanatics to comprehend:

    1. It is perfectly valid for someone to not like the story and still enjoy the rest of FF14!

    2. Everyone has different tastes and there is enough content in FF14 that isn't the MSQ for new players! (vets might feel differently though...)

I don't care what people say, that this is an "RPGMMO" (idiotic statement), or this is a "Final Fantasy first", or whatever other excuse. Next time someone says they find the MSQ boring, lay off the well trodden path of common refrains and just say "that's fine" and continue on with your day.

I don't get why so many mentors feel the need to beat sprouts who complain about the MSQ into submission!! Stop telling people to unsub or quit or that "this game is not for you" when someone complains about the MSQ. Maybe they're all the way in ShB while skipping cutscenes because... Oh God, can you believe it, they like other parts of the game enough to tolerate the story!

Oh, and btw I personally like the story: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...azing-Spoilers

I just don't feel the need to trash on people who don't!

Endwalker has a 91 on metacritic, when you're in the minority, scrutiny is going to be involved. Put on your big boi pants and tab out of chat then.

Endwalker doesn't deserve nearly that high a rating.

Seriously, all entertainment rating and reviews sites on the internet are garbage...and I do mean all. All ratings are hopelessly tainted by fanboys and haters.

Most of them didn't play for longer than a few hours anyway. The amount of time it takes to go through 1/3 of Endwalker is far more than someone paid to review games can afford to put into a MMO.

I recommend you take your own advice, put on your big boy pants and tab out at this point, because your argument is more or less dead in the water. It being an MMO makes no difference to whether "high" metacritic scores mean people have to like its story - in fact it pushes in the opposite direction. Weird argument. A thousand or so people on metacritic like it. A big so what as to whether I do or not.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:

So yeah, it's hard to take many official game reviews from supposedly credible sites seriously since.
TLOU2 was all about the gaming """news""" sites pushing their politics.

The key word in this post is "mentors." As a general rule of thumb, you should just walk away from interactions with people wearing the Burger King crown. Nine times out of ten they'll either be giving you bad advice, getting themselves killed on easily avoidable mechanics, or attempting to brow beat someone that disagrees with anything they've said or done.

That's not to say all mentors are bad, but uh... well, let's just say the Burger King stereotype exists for a good reason.

I've seen enough people shaming MSQ cutscene skippers on the forums and subreddits.

It's not 9 out of 10 mentors. It's 9 out of 10 players. You just notice the mentors the most because they have the crown to differentiate them.
