Lyth already posted my preferred change but it's essentially the Wraithform equivalent. Once activated, Living Dead freezes your HP. You can neither be healed nor take damage for 10 seconds.

I'd much prefer this route because it puts most of the control back into the DRK. Trying to keep the healing gimmick just feels unnecessary. Quite frankly, I'm at the point they should just copy/paste Holmgang and I'd be fine with it. Anything that isn't current LD.

If you freeze your HP when it nearly full then it is basically a Hallowed Ground.

The weakness of the heal from damage taken style can be fix by have LD instantly reduce your hp to 1 and let you heal from damage taken immediately but the result is still similar to Hallowed Ground since you're likely to heal yourself to full from the tank buster. It could even surpassed Hallowed Ground if you use it when your hp is low.

What you need to be concern about LD rework is

    1. It must be better than Holmgang to make it worth having a longer recast time.

    2. It must not surpassed Hallowed Ground which have a much longer recast time.

    3. It must not cause a side effect that lead to a new problem that could escalated and turned to another problem that make the player feel "LD is still no good". It shouldn't required another fix or adjustment.

Having LD reduce your hp to 1 instantly while prevent your hp from dropping below 1 [not true invul] and restore a portion of your hp [no more than 1/3] when the effect expire seem to be the safest way and fit all those criteria/requirements.

My biggest issues with Living Dead are the convoluted implementation with inadequate UI support and loss of player control. I would support any solution that addresses those two points. Out of the solutions that I suggested, Wraithform addresses the issue in the simplest way. It would also be an opportunity to actually give players that shadowy aura that people have been asking for since 2015.

An ability that freezes your HP is still going to be inferior to Hallowed Ground because there are strict conditions around its equivalence. If you mistakenly freeze your HP at 10%, you're going to die when the effect ends and there's nothing that your healers can do to save you. It's worth noting that Superbolide is equivalent to Halllowed Ground when you're at 1 HP. This is effectively the analogue for high HP.

I've always wanted to see a defensive built around a similar principle to Tracer's Recall, where you rewind time to mitigate. Reaper's 'Crest of Time Borrowed' and 'Crest of Time Returned' statuses sounded like a lore nod to this type of approach. But rather than experimenting, I'd really rather they stick with something simple that works.

If we're being honest Hallowed isn't even the best invulnerability, sure its flat no damage taken but it on such a long cooldown when Warrior can not only use theirs every 4 minutes, which means they can use it more than once per fight, but can heal themselves up (which is one of the main reasons it's so good to begin with...it's on warrior). Even Superbolide can be considered better than Hallowed because it has a shorter cast time, and despite it dropping your hp to 1, it gives you what hallowed does, but on a shorter cooldown. The only 'downside' to superbolide is that you need help from the healer to get your hp up, which is probably why its arguable whether its better than hallowed or not.

Living Dead is just so bad i would be hard pressed to find a way how they can make it a worse invuln than it already is that isn't making 100%hp mandatory rather than just healing for whatever your max hp is.

Let be honest. You don't expect to make a mistake by yourself. The result is the only thing that mattered. We can set the requirements but if the result is 9/10 time you don't make a mistake than you got Dark Knight a 300s HG

Under normal circumstance no healer will just sit by and let your HP drop really low without trying to heal you unless you told them so and when it happen like that it won't be freeze when low HP by mistake, it is a planed to freeze when low HP.

Not sure if that's toward me but I don't see how that relates to anything I said...

anyway, if it's about wraithform, then that's exactly why it's a good idea, it makes you want to use it a good time, and if you don't and your at a low HP, hope that TBN and your healer can save you. Or any improvements on self-sustain, if we get any

Seeing as how I started pre-stormblood I know. That said, that's why we generally save 3k mp, because we do need our cooldowns and were essentially a wet napkin without it since ShB launched.

What I meant is that if we used it far too late (say, 10k hp) we would use TBN at the end of the duration to let the healer try and circumvent us dying to our mistake.

also, here's to hoping that TBN gets the mana cost ripped off..

Should just make it to where while Living dead is active your health cannot go below 1hp. During effect you heal for 10% of all incoming damage for 10s.

    Simple as that.

The aim of using invul is to save Your CD as well as Healer CD. If you need to save TBN for LD or spend it to fix LD then it mean LD can't be expected to fulfill that goal.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure about Holm+10% mitigation is going to be much different than holm but better than the current LD I guess.

but if you don't take damage and instead heal 10% from the damage taken then that mean it's like HG+heal. Obviously better than the current LD. Although I don't know how long can it stay when PLD community found out that it is a better HG.
