    Where's the fire?

It seems to be a huge issue lately. I queue up and as soon as I get into the instance, I try to go to party chat and say "hello" to everyone. You know. Trying to be nice and friendly. However, frequently, I'm mid-typing and the darn tank takes off. Not only now I have to cancel out my text, but I'm playing catch-up with some goon who couldn't wait a couple seconds. I don't tank often, but isn't one of the rules "don't ever leave your healer behind"? It should be.

    end rant.

Just type hello as you're loading into the instance, and you're now ready to keep up with the rest of the party. Alternatively there is auto walk or follow for the second or 2 it takes to type hello.

this is one reason a lot of people go for shorthand like " o/ ". It's easy to slip in, even as the tank pulling everything.

On this note, I gotta say some tanks pop sprint a little too soon and I've passed them by at a regular pace as they try to pull. And so I wait

Everyone has sprint, even the healer. Nobody is being left behind.
That being said, I always greet everyone before launching myself into the blood of my enemies at mach 7.

while one of the rules is indeed supposed to be dont leave the healer behind, SE decided healers are unneccessary unless you are a drk. Not to mention with how dull dungeons are people just want them done

Something to consider: Set up a macro for a greeting and maybe even an exit message. While it may seem corny to do so, believe me when I say I appreciate people's effort to put some good vibes out there.

To be fair, you have from the time you enter the duty queue to the time that you "accept" the queue pop to type a greeting if you want to.

Or, between accepting and actually loading into the game; Unless everyone in the party has an SSD, that alone should be plenty of time to type "Hi everyone!"

Are you specifically naming everyone in the group or something? Because that's what it sounds like if you have to dump mid-typing.

Regardless, Tanks have plenty of self sustain that you finishing your typing and catching up would likely be fine. However, everyone is just there to get the dungeon done, not really to socialize.

Except that one time where I got into an instance and the doorbell rang (I was expecting a package) and the tank jumps to warp before I could inform them I needed a sec. Can't really macro that. The tank was the only one in the group who didn't greet (even the deeps did the weird o/ thing). And then loses his marbles when he dies. So yeah... when tanks run off as soon as the barrier drops, it's really off-putting.

"Hello" and "GG" at the end is as big of a conversation as you are going to get in a roulette 99.999% of the time. People generally aren't there to socialize. They are there to get their tomes/gear and get out. If you are wanting to socialize, the DF is probably not the place to actively seek it out. lol
