[Chaos][Cerberus] UG Dissertation - Volunteers Needed!

Hi there!

I’m an undergraduate student looking for volunteers to take part in my study on how avatar self-identification and player motivations can impact self-esteem and social capital, your social network, as titled:

“From Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games to the Real World: the Impact of Avatar Self-Identification and Player Motivations on Self-Esteem and Social Capital”

In brief, this study aims to recruit approximately 100 volunteers. If you consent to taking part, you will be asked to take part in a questionnaire that should take about 30 minutes of your time. Sensitive information that could make you uncomfortable such as discussion around mental health and relationships is included in this study.

To take part you must be 18 years of age or older, a UK resident, and on the Chaos data centre.

You are not required to complete the questionnaire if at any point you do feel uncomfortable or do not wish to continue for any reason and you will be fully briefed before the study and debriefed afterwards. All data will remain anonymous and no personal information such as name, email or identifying information will be collected. For this reason, it is advised you do not post in response to this if you wish to take part, as the link is provided.

How come the limitation on your datacenter?
If people were on that one before could they still fill it out or no?
How come it's for people in the UK only?

Normally it's to do with the requirements of the ethics committees. When you are dealing with borders and differences in international laws, that can really complicate consent and a few other things.

Sorry for the late reply, but Shibi is right ^^

It helped me pass it through the university ethics as we're based in the UK... it gets complicated if it gets international!

As for the data centre, it's the one my character is situated on and part of my distribution is also in game through /tell and what not, so I had to narrow it down here.

If you're on a different data centre currently then you can't complete it unfortunately as the criteria states you have to be on there currently, although thank you for pointing this out, I hadn't thought about that and will amend it to state current occupation.
