[Suggestion] Add more dyes to match colors from gear.

There are pieces of gear in the game that have non-dyable components that are colors we can't match in game. The ones standing out in my head right now are the bright purple from the lvl 90 AF Ninja gear and the navy blue from the Taoist slops.

It would be nice to have more dye colors added to be able to match, since a lot of the unmatchable colors are actually really nice.

Also, this game has a depressing lack of purple dyes.

I wish dyes worked kinda like they do in SWToR. Where you could pick the primary color and the secondary color. In some cases you dye a piece of gear and one color layer doesn't change or changes into some god awful color that messes with what you were going for.

It was better in some ways, but the dye channels were connected. You could use only one dye on a piece and they came in 3 types: double colors, primary only and secondary only. If the combination you wanted didn't exist then you were out of luck. If you put in a primary only you couldn't do anything with the secondary color. Probably the best feature was the match color feature. You could dye the chest and then select other pieces to match it, and it often worked better than dyeing directly. A minor issue was that the wrong colors would be displayed on the character select screen.

it would be nice to have a true two or three channel system like Rift or Wildstar, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

We do need more dyes that match the colors actually used in gear.

We seem to have more of an issue with dyes not matching gear than anything. Matching non-dyable gear to dyable gear is the actual true endgame but not in a fun way. The colors are almost always off.

This would take a lot of time to do, but it's one of my favorite things about SWTOR.

I can see it being a major help for some items in particular:

Dying shirt- coat combo body pieces
    Dying company tabards/hats
Dying anything with a fur trim (although a good alternative would be not dying the trim along with the rest of the piece)
Dying the frames and lenses of eyewear
I'm sure there are much more, but my brain is not clicking right now

It really is a massive undertaking though. There is a lot of dyable gear in game that would have to be changed, SE would have to ask themselves if it is even worth it.

I 'd like some more greens, something like the metallic green but not metallic.

Would be nice if you could choose what part of the item you want to dye. Some stuff dyes so well, while others the dye affects almost everything, completely ruining the appearance.

I have been told that the devs have only a few slots left for dyes in the current dying system. I expect to see them only add the most popular until time allows them to overhaul the glamour system. That will also probably require an overhaul of the server backend too.

Then they should stop using unmatching colours for gear...

The issue is that each piece of clothing seems to have a different color for the same dye...

As well as different regions being dyed/not being dyed.

All in all they would need to implement different dye channels as well as having a material-color standard to fix these issues which is unlikely.

    Yes to more dye channels.

Also, yes to having them make the dyes actually match. Dalamud Red on my skirt should reasonably match the dalamud red on my boots, or really any other thing. Yet somehow I gotta use rust red…

Or in most cases just can’t make a match at all and have to settle for black boots…again.
