    Housing/Apartment Suggestion

I don't really know how the general community would feel about this. However, I have talked to a couple of people and they seemed to like it. So here is my toss into the suggestion pit.

I know the community wants better housing and at this point in time, we know that with how they have built housing it is almost impossible to recreate housing from the ground up. Besides adding new wards as I am sure this suggestion and want is screamed at the top of people lungs. I think homes and apartments should be able to have its interior expanded. This is mostly a suggestion for apartment owners but I didn't want to leave house owners out.

I figured it could be almost like a Tom Nook style system, where you pay so much to get an extension added on to your place. Where there is an option to have a balcony for apartments that face away from the main housing district to avoid having to code being able to see all the houses of that ward. The balcony could allow for more or larger planters.

This was just an idea of mine, please feel free to add on to the idea. I figured it would give some sort of relief for apartment owners to have more space to be creative and enjoy the housing system a bit more. Having limited housing in any game I have been in has always been a nightmare. I think at this point it's how can the developers make people feel like they have a decent home not so much how can every player have a home.

People have suggested this concept before, I agreed with it then and certainly now as well. ♥

They could solve many issues with a system like this
I hope they consider, as having enough "neighborhoods" is impossible for this game in particular.

as an aside: ( item limits need to be drastically increased, I decorate as real and as detailed as possible and it takes alot of items to create ..400 for mansions is weak, barely covers part of 1 floor....1600 at least please, all sized home, apartments, indoor and outdoor needs to quadruple)

That I don't disagree with. I wonder if it's about server load as to why they haven't gave more.

YoshiP said during a Q&A within the last couple of years that the housing system memory isn't designed to allow those sorts of changes/upgrades to housing that players already own.

What would be nice is if they expanded the apartment system to have such layouts as purchase options in the first place. Go to buy an apartment, you choose from several preset size/layouts. If at some time in the future the player decides they want a different size/layout, players could relinquish the existing apartment and purchase a new one with the new layout desired.

I'd be perfectly happy with a system that would let me:

    1) Submit crafting materials to create expansions of my apartment. That would make the time spent leveling them even more meaningful. These could be daily or weekly quests that grant incremental progress toward increasing the size from normal apartment through small, medium, and finally large floor plans.

    2) Pay the full cost of the associated size house to auto-upgrade my apartment to the floor plan of said house.

    3) An option for a hybrid of both. I'd be fine with paying 10 mil toward a Med house floor plan then gathering/crafting the items to cover the remainder of the cost.

Housing would greatly benefit from removing sizes entirely. Just having one size of plot - at least on the inside, if gardens would somehow make things difficult to code. And then allow for upgrades to M or L size. Ever since the introduction of L forge exteriors, the argument of exteriors not matching interiors does not apply anymore anyways.
The same goes for apartments, as suggested. They could start at their current size and be increased up to a fully-sized mansion layout.

It really is annoying how housing is still being handled like some sort of prestige, while it should be accessible in equal means to everyone with an active subscription.

They could redo housing all together, allow players that have houses now be guaranteed housing in the remake. All houses being the same size until upgraded (though I would grandfather in people that already have large and medium housing.) Then allow FC houses to be instanced area's much like apartments but give it a back yard allowing for garden plots and chocobo stalls. It could be facing an open area for example an ocean. I don't know how realistic it will be for everyone to have housing.

From stats in December for American servers we have about 80-130K players per server with only around 8k-15K being active. If we were to limit player housing by data center instead of server, allowing characters for your other servers on that datacenter access to your one house. It could cut occupied houses by a good amount. From my understanding atm it's by server unless that has changed. For that change I wouldn't grandfather in people. I would ask which house they would want to keep and give them 2 weeks to clear out the others, as well as giving a refund on those characters of about half the houses worth. This might be a unpopular opinion but, I am only tossing out thoughts so please don't come for me.

Right now we have about 7,200 houses for each server (including the new ward coming up). That about half of the active player base per each server. So it could be that we just need to get 2-3 new area's or add 24 new wards to each area to compensate.

Again tossing out information and idea's. Some of things even I am kinda of wary about. It's just to kind of help get the gears turning for everyone in hopes the one's who work on the game might see a thread and take ideas or suggestions from it if people actively like it. Since they do seem to listen to the community, but I realize I and a lot of people don't know what it takes to run this game and the servers for it. Along with resources it takes to make it run.

They've doubled the item slots back in Storm blood, so it's not impossible. They're not doing it for other reasons. Be that they don't have enough server space or they want to accommodate PS4 players.
