FF14 should have a global chat system

No. Simply, no. A major reason I left other MMOs was the presence of global chat channels becoming festering styes of filth and hate. The lack of such in XIV is one of the major reasons I appreciate the game. The last thing this game needs is a venue where people feel enabled to spew horrible things at each other.

Things like this make me glad I'm on a JP server.

i mean... maybe the NN would be used more like intended if they would add a global chat (one that is open for everybody), i wouldnt mind it can be hempful and so.etimes entertaining. people whon dont want ti read the bad stuff can just deactivate it

One of the beauties of MMORPGs is going online and watching drama unfold over all kinds of stuff. In just a few hours in Lost Ark's zone chat, I witnessed people debating economics, vaccines, China, censorship, capitalism and getting real mad and tilted at each other. There just isn't the same vigor in FF14. You can feel the energy pumping in the zone chat as people pour their soul into crafting witty insults and arguments over something that literally doesn't matter. I wish it happened more on FF14 because that energy is definitely there. I see it every day on the forums and subreddits! We can harness that power and create meaningful, player-driven content if we just made a global chat system for people to display their sincerely held unpopular opinions about all kinds of things!

The closest we have is novice network.

I see this whenever I play SWTOR annually for 2-3 months. Day after day after day of all this non-stop.

You don't want this in FF14.

I miss the imp fleet chat from like 7 years ago. PoT5 was great. I really do miss those days.

The last time I logged into SWTOR, like 2 or 3 years ago, a bit after everything got merged, I got made fun of for my name immediately. It was straight up hostile, just in general really. Like, there is a difference between actual hostility and just people having fun. Honestly though, I think I have kind of grown out of it. I don't really trash talk in any game anymore, and I get kind of annoyed when I see it too.
