That thread about what makes you cringe is the living proof this statement. All it took was one guy talking about women and what they wear and he was sent to the internet's shadow realm:
Twitter.
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
I'm in firm agreement. It'd be entirely optional and presumably opt in so the players who wanted to be social could join and the ones who do not...could simply choose not to partake.
FFXIV often feels very quiet in a way that other MMO's do not. A global chat channel would do wonders for fostering a genuine community feel, I think!
Not to sound mean, but if that is what you crave maybe that other game really is for you. Cheers.
Wise men speak because the have something to say, fools because they have to say something. - Plato - He saw the ff forums apparently.
Yeah...given how absolutely unappealing this sounds, and the fact that on JP servers people don't have conversations in shout, yell, or even say chats, this won't happen. And I'm glad. As others have said, just make a linkshell for this. You can even advertise in the fellowship finder or community finder.
People need to learn and understand MMO is about human interaction. Yes, current NN is somehow like Global chat system, but it is mainly for sprout, and limited to certain amount of people. I can understand why some people disagree, but if you do not want to jump into global chat channel, then dont enter it. A lot of people do not join NN cuz so many stupid thing happen in NN. LS is entirely useless now, not everyone want to talk on LS. Have a channel for people who really want to talk is a nice way to let community and player to interact more
Too many people already misuse Novice Network as a global chat.
Having an actual one would be the worst addition I could ever imagine.

Yo truuuuuuuuuuuuueOne of the beauties of MMORPGs is going online and watching drama unfold over all kinds of stuff. In just a few hours in Lost Ark's zone chat, I witnessed people debating economics, vaccines, China, censorship, capitalism and getting real mad and tilted at each other. There just isn't the same vigor in FF14. You can feel the energy pumping in the zone chat as people pour their soul into crafting witty insults and arguments over something that literally doesn't matter. I wish it happened more on FF14 because that energy is definitely there. I see it every day on the forums and subreddits! We can harness that power and create meaningful, player-driven content if we just made a global chat system for people to display their sincerely held unpopular opinions about all kinds of things!
I would love a global/trade chat. Game is dull and boring enough as it is.
The current state of shout in Ul Dah on Balmung and the Novice Networks pretty much anywhere is good enough reason for me to never want a global chat.
We don't need another channel for a fringe group of loud friends to try and police the community into their ideologies as if they own the place and bulk report anyone who doesn't meet their social standards.
