Hey all!
So... I'm new to FFXIV. I'm REALLY enjoying it so far.
A few questions:
Do you recommend playing with a gamepad?
How is the gameplay going to be enhanced in v2.0?
Thanks

Hi and welcome, sir! I'm new to this game also, but I played FFXI for a long time, which is not that different, at least now after the initial changes.
Unfortunatelly, I never tried it with a gamepad, but I hear it's as good as with a keyboard and mouse!
For the 2.0 version, please, check this marvelous link! It helped me a lot! =D

In the end of it is the Roadmap, which contains all the details! And some of them are really interesting =D
A lot of people preffer to play with a gamepad, but i didn't liked it.
It depend on the person, try it and see what you preffer.
That's not a question other people can answer for you :P
Okay. Thanks.
I dug out a controller from the attic... a controller for the classic xbox. After some searching online I was able to get it working on Win7 x64.
I tried it with the controller - I preferred it. I was able to move and change the camera easier, things were a bit more responsive.
Anyway... I hope to see you all on FFXIV shortly.
The only issue I've heard with people using controllers is that if it becomes disconnected during play, you have to log out and log back in or something stupid like that. I don't use a gamepad myself, so I can't confirm. Just throwing that warning out there.
I use motioninjoy drivers for my PS3 controller in windows and this is not a problem. In fact, I can disconnect my controller, change the gamepad profile to something else if I so choose and reconnect it back to the PC all while FFXIV is running.
How paladin looks on a controller:
Just to clarify, this only happens if you use the Wireless Xbox 360 controller as far as I know. My wireless Logitech controller never has any issues.
I like using a controller for movement, but my keyboard when in combat. It's a lot nicer to hit the numbers instead of having to scroll left or right to what I need
Hello,
I use a keyboard (allows me to chat all the time, and nice super fast access to macros). However, I do have to use a mouse if I need to pick a specific critter out of a mob.
