I have two major thoughts in regards to this.

    1. In all my years doing MMORPGs and online gaming, I have never seen this kind of community appeal amount to anything. At the end of the day it's the word of the person speaking against a generally silent administration. There is always some hopes of getting a rally going, but it never does, because nobody is going to take a leap of faith based on a situation they don't have all the facts in, usually based on the word of someone they don't know. This has been the case since the days of MUDS being the only way to get the MMO experience, back then people used to get banned and go to echoes or generally associated BBS systems and try the same thing, with the same results as modern MMO drama.

    2. I do agree that silence on the part of game administrations is a bad thing however. That said it's no different than getting in trouble at most jobs where they generally hide behind company policy and give you some write up based on a general line in the company handbook without actually explaining or justifying anything. Just like RL there is also no effective review process when private companies and individuals are involved, you either have to trust the admins or not.

I have long felt there needs to be more corporate accountability in general, both in the workplace and in situations like this one. Right now it seems the basic gist of it is that to work for someone or use a product they can make you effectively sign a waiver where you give up most of your rights (which I think should be illegal), which is why they can get away with being so vague, especially seeing as being specific could actually get them in trouble.

My analogy to the workplace probably isn't the best, but it just seems similar to me. I haven't generally gotten in trouble in either context but I am aware of enough situations other people have gotten into where even if I felt the person basically deserved what happened I think the company was entirely wrong in how they were handling things, and also gained a general dislike for the process. It can say something when I think the person is wrong, but agree that the way the discipline is being conducted is even worse. Sadly those in politics are generally paid by the corporations they should be protecting people against, so we're never likely to see change. For my part when I join an MMO I know what I'm getting into, so I just try and do what I can to stay out of trouble, so far I haven't personally run into any problems.

Nobody's pointing fingers. They're just indicating that op has blatantly admitted to doing things that would technically be against the tos and also how GMs have the capability to investigate what did or did not happen. In addition, people pointed out that this was a warning that can be challenged if one so wished. Was it fair? We don't know because we don't have the context required, all we have to work off of is what op has said and since they are the one with the warning it can be difficult to ascertain whether or not they are telling the truth.

tl;dr op has been belligerent in their defense even when given advice on what to do next and people don't appreciate that.

Yeah we should just take the person that constantly ditches parties and calling others whiners, crybabies, threaten to "turn into a monster", ect word for it that the GMs are 100% in the wrong. If we don't we're just bootlickers

I haven't been through the whole thread but I can tell you what your problem is, its your attitude. Even your exchange with the GM was rude and demanding. You didn't contact them with an attitude of trying to resolve and issue, you contacted them with an attitude of " I don't deserve this mark I am too good and a paragon of the community get rid of it".

The only time I reported someone for griefing was when I was doing a Puppet's Bunker and during the second boss fight someone was intentionally trying to kill other groups with the laser beam.

They never talked in chat, but it was obvious they were doing it on purpose despite the entire Alliance trying to teach them.

We only passed it after the healers intentionally left them dead the rest of the fight.

I'm not sure if that player was ever actioned against, but I would imagine it's hard to prove someone is griefing and not just a bad player without incriminating chat messages.

If I say it, my post would be removed and I'd get a temp ban just like you did, so hard pass.

I remember that a lot of anti-male viera posters accused those who preferred the slimmer/more Omega-like design as opposed to a more muscular one of all sorts of things, ultimately I am grateful that we received them in the state we got due to Senn's consistency in his main post in that thread.

The reality is that despite being called "Final Fantasy XIV" most of the male races prior to the inclusion of Male Miqote and then Male Viera were far removed from the usual look of a typical Final Fantasy hero, with hyurs having a sort of...uncanny aspect to them, Elezen being, well Elezen (yes I know I am saying that while posting from my elezen character), etc.

To the surprise of no one, male Viera's finished form is largely popular despite its limited state, because they gave us a design that is very much "Final Fantasy" and appeals to the core playerbase of this game instead of something completely out of the blue like Hrothgar, which FF players just didn't gravitate towards. I feel bad that posters like Senn and Sturm had endured so much over the course of that thread, but honestly the result was worth it and their efforts resulted in a very beneficial addition to the roster of races in game.

Small chance of this getting read, I know, but OP, if you're in the EU - file a GDPR request, since the penalty is tied to your account they'd have to give you what information they have on it. Then you can see exactly what SE thinks you did wrong and go from there.

Don't think it works like you think, ToS violations aren't included. Read this post:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/...for_no_reason/

They already told the OP why he was banned, giving the name of his reporter would violate their privacy and potentially allow him to harass them, defeating the entire point of the reporting system.
