Toning down the gil rewards and increasing the amount of item drops to compensate might fix that, though...or they could just start actually banning them instead, because an entire party of level 80-90 bots takes a significant amount of time to set up.
All that does is make the item drops even more worthless due to a flood of supply. Most of the times I run maps, I end up vendoring a lot of the items anyway because it's just cheap crafting mats and bad materia. The "big" items like the cloth or orchestrions have dropped quite low in price, so increasing droprate would render them valueless.

They have to tackle the bots. No other way around it. Their options are let bots ruin maps, ruin maps to stop bots, or actually tackle the issue. So far they're just sticking their heads in the sand and leaving it at option 1, similar to crafting.
