List of what got worse after the patches [Feedback Topic]

    Hello, adventurers.

With all the patches released there're so many things that improved since launch.
In this Topic, however, I would like to bring to the attention of the dev team some of the features that in my opinion got worse, hoping in an answer or in a future fix or improvement. Who else feels like listing his/her contructive opinion on what he/she thinks got worse is welcome.

    1. Lines of macros skipped
After patch 1.20, there's been an increase in the speed of macros related to equipping gear; however, this came with a cost, as I noticed that sometimes certain lines of the macro, probably due to the increase in speed, are skipped. Something was strange when I was fighting as Pugilist with Linen Gaiters (crafter's equipment) on more than one occasion, that's when I realized the issue, that I never had in the past.
Now I often have to press the same macro 3 or 4 times, because not all the lines work and not all the gear is equipped at once.
It doesn't matter the area where I am (normal or server processed), nor if I'm standing or moving: simply, many times the lines of macros are skipped.

Not a real problem to me pressing the same macro three times, but considering the average patience of other, possibly new adventurers, I think this should be fixed soon.
Chances to have it return to work properly by 1.21?

    2. “Queing of gathering starting action”
After (I think) patch 1.19, the “queing of actions” for Disciples of the Land got worse. I'm talking about the action, be it “Fish”, “Log” or “Mine”, when you select it from the Main Menu or by targeting the gathering point: in the past, if I ceased gathering, the moment, for instance, that I put away my pickaxe, when I was still putting it away, I could select “Mine” and it automatically drew it back, ready to mine again. Now I've to wait that the tool is in my back and only then the command works; even if I target the mining point and press “Confirm” multiple times, it doesn't work... Actually, this seems to slow down the process even more.

If you're asking “Why do you put away your tool while gathering?”, it's simple: I do gathering because I like to do it, and I do it when I really feel like doing it; so I take my Regional Leves and, for the ones requiring to take 3 specific types of ore/log/fish, I try to activate Sweat of Brow, but not until some time has passed. This way, I can enjoy the leve and the relaxing music for at least 25 minutes.
However, certain times I recognize the sweet spot of the specific material of the leve from the Remainder Gauge, so I cease gathering and start again.

Of course, this problem could be instantly solved if the 3 specific materials in Fieldcraft Leves would only appear in a single specific spot. This way, no more “ceasing gathering” would be necessary: I know Straight Mahogany Logs only and only appear at the +3 sweet spot, so, since that day I feel like spending a good 25 minutes gathering with that music, I go at -2 and aim for Rosewood Logs/Branches.
If this could be implemented, it would be Great, but until then I'd like to have the response time of gathering starting actions as it was prior to patch 1.19. There's no need to slow down the response times after all the improvements made on them.

    3. Loot List icon removed from the top of the screen
For some reason the Loot List flashing icon was removed... Now it appears very little in the micro menu. I think it will be enlarged, but that's not my point.
After patch 1.20, the +3 items are no longer obtainable. However, I've aaaall the ones hardly earned in my 14 moons in Eorzea that I was waiting to use until the HQ mechanics revamps scheduled for 1.20 (and postponed to 1.21; I'm talking about the real deal: using HQ materials that ensure a HQ result.).
Therefore, with all the new +1 items, I had a big increase in inventory space, as I don't feel like throwing away the old +3 ones. For this reason, it happened that while I was gathering, not seeing the flashing Loot List icon (the micro menu disappears while gathering), I lost +1 gathered materials because I had full inventory without realizing it.

So, would it be possible to have the Loot List icon back and have it flash even while you're gathering or crafting?

    ___________________________________

Also, after patch 1.19 I started to have again big amounts of lag in certain areas of the city-states, like when exiting the Market Wards or when entering the Adventurers' Guilds, with the other characters not appearing if not after 2-4 seconds. Before patch 1.19 I wasn't having this issue in a long time... Anyway, just pointing it out, I know nothing can be done about it until the new server network arrives.

So the 3 above are my points. If other adventurers agree with those or would like to let the dev team know their opinion on what they think got worse after the patches, please do so in this Topic.

Thanks, community reps, if you could forward these feedbacks and eventually let me know (particularly on the first two points).

    1 and 3 I agree with.

2 is... weird, and probably specific to you only. Here's a potentially better idea: Fail the gather. The leve target is always going to be in the same spot during the approach phase (assuming sufficient level and gathering stat). Figure out where that is, and chop as far away from it as you can. You'll fail to gather the leve item, and voila, you don't have to put your tool away. I haven't timed things out, so this might actually take longer than putting the tool away + bringing it back out, so this may not help you at all. I really don't want them to make the leve targets only appear in one spot though, no no no.

I think those are all valid points.
For me the worst addition is probably the way quests were implemented. Because they seem to be just another way to do leves it leaves little hope for future questlines and cutscenes. Now players view them just as an optional way to grind.

In previous FF games especially XI the unfolding story was more of a reward than a piece of gil or xp can ever hope to be.

I don't remember the story of even one single npc quest or leve in XIV and I hope the inclusion of gear rewards won't blind people from seeing how badly these story bits are written.

Most players just skip over the blocks of useless text because the designers don't trust us to remember even the most simple of instructions. And why would we as it all comes down to following red dot on the map.

yeah i gotta go with ralda on #2

you are doing something that is very odd and time consuming, and in the end doesnt even net you more exp preuly because you are wasting so much time doing it that way. you are basicaly doing it in a way that it was not meant to be done, so i very much doubt they will cater to that specific need since its not a true problem for people

1 i have no real opinion on

3 is eh, it was nice to see the icon on the screen but personaly i know when i have loot so it doesnt bother me

Admittedly most of the side-quests are filler but there are some that have interesting bits of info here and there, like a Roegadyn needing items to trade on another land mass that was recently discovered. One in the first batch or two of side-quests to come out actually hinted at the whole Dalamud thing waaaay before the GC quests even came in. Then we've got the class quests which give interesting insight into the guilds and the way Eorzea works, much more interesting than most games IMO. After that we've got the GC quests which are currently mostly 7th Umbral Era related which have been fantastic so far, especially the newest ones. And last but not least of course we've got the main quests which are quite interesting though they left us at a cliffhanger with a lot of unfinished business.

All in all I think a vast majority of the quests are done quite well and are fairly interesting. The side-quests are the least important of them but they're still good I'd say.

3 is the one that bugs me the most, I seen things like keys and such not get passed in settlements because the person who it dropped to did not see it in the log and the little icons in the corner no one pays attention to.

I do not mind the new system something I would just have to get use to, but would be great if they had an option to toggle the old stuff on top of the screen as well.

On #3 it shows in your macro menu, so just move that to a location that stands out better for you to see.

As we will most likely be seeing more and more items built into the macro menu.

3 is a good one, I wish they would do that for raises as well. Also I would add

    4. Duration of raise on a target was significantly decreased, please increase duration. Honestly I dont see why it would have a duration to begin with not like you can queue it up on a live target.

edit: or a compromise with xtash and monteyb, make those icons moveable and not attached to the micro menu.

    1. It was before.
    2. After 1.19 in 25 minutes you can get better EXP just doing leves.
    3. Yes. Loot list icon in top of the screen was much better.
