Alliance raids (current ones at least) also serve as a catch up mechanic of sorts to gear other jobs since they always drop gear with the equivalent item level to the current base tomestone gear. Obviously 6.1 isn't here yet, but it will be soon enough.
Yeah, my friend told me that a bit ago. This is my first expac release so I've not been introduced to current-content gearing til now. I joined when you could just buy i510 off the MB and do pretty much almost everything in the game with that, and only towards the end did I worry about gearing up more.
You miss my point tho , why would i go help other people clear savage with a job that is only ilvl 580 when i can go help them with my main who have full gear. Like rn my black mage is ilvl 600 ( not even bis because i still miss a shit tone of tome upgrade ) and my second job samurai/mnk is ilvl 582 only . At this point of the raid tier people who haven't cleared all boss need all the help they need and i'm just not going to go with a job that only have crafted gear i'm just going to grief them.
Gotcha. Welcome to the endgame then.Yeah, my friend told me that a bit ago. This is my first expac release so I've not been introduced to current-content gearing til now. So get a Penta set and farm the heck out of Savage?
Thanks! It's fun ahah. Heck, I legit just have a medley of crafted, normal raid i580, and 1 i590. Working on leveling all my other jobs before I nab MB gear so I can clear up my inventory.
if you're not able to meet minimum DPS requirements without being overgeared, I think you need to evaluate what you're doing with your jobs and how you play them. If you're relying on gear to hit DPS checks in order to "not grief" then there's something wrong with your rotation, or you're not overmelding or something. You miss my point tho , why would i go help other people clear savage with a job that is only ilvl 580 when i can go help them with my main who have full gear. I just finished my first ever savage run (Granted, P1S so lower DPS check, but P4S is tuned to be cleared in i580) last Monday, we're about to reclear today. Nearly the entire group was in i580 or less, with our lowest geared member sitting at around i578. Our highest geared member was i590, second highest was I believe i581.
If you play mechanics well and do your rotation correctly, you'll be an asset in full 580 without pentamelds. You miss my point tho , why would i go help other people clear savage with a job that is only ilvl 580 when i can go help them with my main who have full gear. What you're asking for is not meeting minimum requirements so you're not griefing, you're asking for easy outgearing in order to "help others". And the people that haven't cleared the entire tier yet still have month to do so, no reason to use them to ask for faster outgearing.
Buddy i cleared the entire raid weeks 2 with basically minimum gears ... i'm talking about other people who need the clear and who need all the help they need to clear it ...Thanks! It's fun ahah. Heck, I legit just have a medley of crafted, normal raid i580, and 1 i590. Working on leveling all my other jobs before I nab MB gear so I can clear up my inventory.

Then you should be fine to play with other jobs using crafted gear, which the fights are tuned around, and shouldn't need to overgear in order to "not grief". If you want to help on your i582 samurai, you'd still be an asset if you're not relying on overgearing.![]()
Ah yes, of course. The only alternative to the current system is to remove all caps entirely on both weekly tomes and savage gear (because that cap is now also suddenly included in this discussion). Genius.Like what, exactly? Do you have a better suggestion? Tomes are already targeted gearing, bad luck protection, and a slow but consistent gear path for non-raiders all rolled into one. What do you suggest they do to improve it?
Of course it's time gated. It has to be, because the alternative is people running a hundred dungeons and clearing the raids a dozen times in the first week, and then spending the next 4 months complaining about how there's nothing to do.
