And you can gear your other jobs. i580 is the minimum amount required to clear current savage content. You can buy that off the marketboard for like 500k a set now. Go forth, and get your BiS!

Alliance raids (current ones at least) also serve as a catch up mechanic of sorts to gear other jobs since they always drop gear with the equivalent item level to the current base tomestone gear. Obviously 6.1 isn't here yet, but it will be soon enough.
