Every time I ask a question I am told to go to the Balance discord. My experiences there has been just awful, everyone talks in jargon I do not understand and when I ask what was meant, boom no reply (and onlly 1 in 5 times I get any kind of answer). Seems to be a place for those with 5-10 years playing the game with their own internal codes for things like actions. Fortunately, here that never happens!
So I have max level crafted gear on my DoH classes (CUL & ALC). I want to create a decent meld without going into pentamelding (am NOT trying to min/max). Spent a lot of time trying to absorb many of the guides, but the basic assumption of all of them is one is going to fill ever materia slot, down the the 2% chance ones!
So I kinda have a bit of a feel for doing 90 collectibles (for purple scrips to GET the materia!)... someone gave me a simple macro that I have added too for dealing with 80-90 crafts. Couple of times I have needed to go with some food I picked up around (and some I got from a FC-mate), plus I made myself some craftsman/CP which kind seems to go with what I am asking about. Base stats are 3106 craft, 2956 control, 499 CP. The theory is to pretty much fill all my available slots with Control materia, arriving at 3147 (that comes from going with the scrip frying pan, despite no materia, stats are better)/3256/499. Most of the food I've seen can have big boosts to CP, a lot of them boost control, but I think crafts is better for going all in on control.
Am I crazy here? There was a set on teamcraft that had this basic all control boosted except they went all out pentamelding 4 gear pieces... always an option later on.
Should I be looking elsewhere, I THINK this is decently reasoned way to go. The point of CUL is to make stuff that is useful for me... in crafting, gathering or combat.
