Currently making a similar arguement on the Tank forums1.0 combat was more interesting and had more potential than the current combat once the stamina system was removed. Removing the monster part/debilitation system was a huge mistake.
Cutting off the action and trait system from that time was a mistake. When you discourage players from leveling multiple jobs through your extremely restrictive weekly caps, leveling methods, and homogenization of job play, you defeat the main purpose of having 15+ jobs you can have in 1 character. Every Bravely and FF game that had a job system after FF3 had cross-job advantages for a reason. Furthremore even with homogenization job balance still is flawed. It will always be flawed. Balance and META is a poor excuse for this. Every game with options has a META. Doesn't render the non meta choices useless.
Tanks don't exist in FF14 because they removed aggro, all tanks are are DPS with more health. The game is moving towards a death spiral due to the homogenisation of roles. They took away tanks role so they had to give them something else, self sustain moves, which started to take healer role. Eventually we will all be DPS playing a bullet hell game. RIP FF14 was fun while it lasted

Bard should be a full on support healer and not a heavy hitting speedy proc based archer monstrosity. I’d say they should be ashamed by the state of it but I genuinely think they are.
Healers should be designed to heal/support majority of the time and not have time to dps.
When SE practically deleted buffs and debuffs and replaced with the generic ‘damage up’ or ‘damage down’ effect they were making a huge mistake because it watered down the battle system too much.
The numbered system instead of tiered is so lame. I’d rather have Firagaja than Fire V
The Scions are all bland characters with little personality beyond tired tropes and almost no real development over like 6 expansions.
New Summoner is fun. Needs work but still fun.
90% of Scholars play purely for the ‘intellectual’ aesthetics and to have a fairy pet not because they actually have an interest in the job.
Lastly, this game overall doesn’t resemble a Final Fantasy game in any way, shape or form beyond specific references to previous games. Even the job system doesn’t feel in any way like it would in a ‘Final Fantasy’
Endwalker didn't feel as big as it was hyped up to be
Regarding EW story. I didn't feel like the Loporrits section was paddling and I quite enjoyed it.
Outside of the story (which was cool playing it but looking back at it was very horrible) it's no different then every expansion SB on. The game is stuck in a formulaic loop that it will not break. Is what was great about ARR and HW was the game took risks and was experimental. Now we get repetitive garbage that we can do for a week and it becomes irrelevant again.
The stormblood alliance raids are even more of a fanservice reference fest than the by definition fan service nier alliance raids. Entirely forced into the game, including the forced tie in to bozja.
- For a game that is so story driven the amount of voice over is really just pathetic

- The UI is somewhat bad the amount of split systems is one thing but the map is nuclear bad like this was made with the purpose to be bad

This game is a mess for new players that don't have a friend explain it to them or watch 2 hours of guides.
- Endwalker has so many plot holes and the amount of space alien, matter and anti matter references were
so big that one time I was sure that hermes would disclose that he worked on ancient aliens before.
