Except, and hear me out on this: There are always expansions where certain characters take a backseat for other characters to have their growth and development arcs. Y'shtola, as one of many main characters, does not need to always 100% of the time fulfill all the needs as required by her role.

If you've ever read stories with revolving "Points of View", you'll understand what I'm talking about.

Perfect example of this would be Rick Riordan's "The Kane Chronicles." Of the two main characters, one fulfills the role of the researcher and the other fulfills the role of the fighter. However, given that they are fleshed out characters able to both do and "not-do" things related to their specific character, there are times where one main character may not 100% fulfill all needs as required by his role, and the other may need to step up and fill that herself. There are also points where one main character is absent for quite a while, but this does not mean they are not needed in the end.

Y'shtola still took up the space that could have gone to literally any more interesting female character that didn't necessarily have to be a researcher. Researchers are boring, and if that's all that's going on then it's going to get old real fast. The fakeouts she's had haven't helped much in the way of soldifying her importance-they have actively cheapened her and made her a joke. Her most interesting moment in Endwalker for me was when she turned us into frogs. Everything else was forgettable.

I'd rather have characters who react in the moment to the world around them like Estinien or Venat who aren't afraid to do their own thing in the middle of an otherwise unreasonable situation. Venat was clearly intelligent, but also a no-nonsense individual who broke herself out of Hermes' spell and went straight after Meteion instead of giving us some long drawn-out speech or a snarky remark. Y'shtola is stagnant-a know it all with no further capacity for growth and who is passive to what's happening in the moment.

The only way someone could tolerate her at this point is if they find her visually appealing, but failing that there is nothing of substance to latch onto anymore. Our next postergirl could easily eclipse her in terms of looks and personality if they ever bother to design one. She has served her purpose, let her exit stage right.

Endwalker didn't feel as big as it was hyped up to be

I begun to like EW actually more (never disliked it), when I begun to look at it like last third or quarter of any ok-alright JRPG. When things start to get overly fantastical and bunch of stuff get finally revealed a bit too late to my liking.
JRPG endings are not my favourite things in those games, though I do like JRPGs. Most of the usual ride is fun and I prefer it to end instead being stretched to infinity.
Hopefully looking forward the next "story arc" in 7.0.

When playing Endwalker it felt like a 6/10 for me.
After going back to watch the CS again, it became a 5/10.

I'm gonna take a guess but is it because it has too many healing tools? Just feels like that too me like I have a way too big of a safety net to the point where I'm starting to wonder if SE put those for healers who do savage/ex? There's no way the regular content needs that much healing, even in expert. If that's not the reason, lemme know why. I'm curious

WHM is in a paradoxical limbo because it's meant to be the beginner friendly healer, but at the same time I guess even the devs know they can't give it an "autoplay/babyproof" playstyle or all the lazy players would just flock to it (as if they didn't already), so you end up with a job that's so straightforward it's almost insulting, but it's also so bareboned it's ironically "harder" to play efficiently as - and 9/10 times anyone brings it up, the general answer is "just play AST then" /rolls eyes
