can you expand a bit on the topic? i'm curious. The game is better when YoshiP has as little say in what the devs do as possible. His personal opinions/desires as a gamer are no longer in line with what we the customers want, and his direct involvement in stuff is now far more a curse than a “look how much our director cares” blessing. This became an issue with job design, encounter design, and now recently the msq isn’t even safe from how out of touch he is. The game was better when he let the teams do their jobs.

The entire structure of expansions ... or rather how its ALWAYS the same. Let me use my magical lens to foresee 7.0
7.0 Finish MSQ
91 93 95 96 97 99 and lv 100 dungeon. Trial at 93 and 97/99 and 100 in
7.01
4 Normal/Savage fights - Tome Gear and Crafted gear
7.1
Ally raid and 1 dungeon - upgraded crafted gear and gathering/crafting gear
7.2
4 normal/savage fights 1 Side quest trial - Tome gear and Crafted gear added
7.3 > Work towards new expansion
Ally raid and 1 dungeon 1 Story based trial - upgraded crafted gear and gathering/crafting gear
7.4
4 normal/savage fights 1 Side quest trial - Tome gear and Crafted gear added
7.5
Ally raid and 1 dungeon 1 Side quest trial - upgraded crafted gear and gathering/crafting gear
Let me know how close i got, structure is good but dear god try something new. EW ends at ilv 660 and 7.5 will end at 790, let me guess ... 7 ex trials and if you have all you get a mount? 3 Beast tribes?
Im not asking for everything to be thrown over but something ... come on.

this is like the staple things and I'm disappointed you didn't try being a more daringThe entire structure of expansions ... or rather how its ALWAYS the same. Let me use my magical lens to foresee 7.0

(i'm not saying your take is bad but there are more thing you can foresee)
I...don't see how having a strictly organized release sechedule is bad. It's surely better than going an entire year without any update, or improvising release dates that not even the devs are ready for it. Imo what matters is the quality of the content within the patches, rather than the patches themselves. I'd add stuff like:The entire structure of expansions ... or rather how its ALWAYS the same. MSQ:
- Urianger keeping secrets from us
- Y'shtola being an exposition character, cuz she's Batman level intelligent, and may or may not do a fake death
- the city state leaders being useless
- Cid being called and magically making...whatever high technology gadget we need, on demand
- whatever world ending thread has nearly no actual or lasting impact in the overworld
Jobs:
- some jobs getting actions removed and being given 'brand new skills' that are actually just the same ones that got removed with different visuals (looking at you Divine Seal aka Largesse aka Temperance)
- healers getting more ogcd heals, because we can't have enough of them
- tanks and healers being even more "accessible"
Game:
- patch dungeons and raids being difficult for like...5 days, then be safely done without a healer
- seasonal events that consist of 2-3 quests and the rewards are either a hat (Hroths and Viera who?) or a mundane housing food plate, except for Moonfire Faire
- more TT cards that drop *only* from every single last dungeon or raid boss, ohh, you dont do ex/savage? tough luck
- more "unisex" anime/bob cut hairstyles that are considered too long for male characters and too short for female characters
- more hats and chest items that amputate ears/horns/tails
- Hrothgar stil being ignored, and Hrothgals will just be taller Miqo'te
...This is admittedly longer than what I'd expect it to be...huh....

Yes, the national anthem at the end of Stormblood was kinda cringe.
But it wasn't any more or less cringe than how people irl sing their national anthem at everything and act overly patriotic and emotional about it ( especially a certain country, even down to the convenient eagle in movies too ).
If anything even if it was a weird moment they at least had sorta '' earned '' their right to sing it, instead of singing it literally everywhere all the time.
I bet a lot of people who complained about it at the end of Stormblood are far worse with this irl themselves lol.
It's more than blind patriotism. At least in that scene. Keep in mind the original lyrics were twisted during Garlean rule, so they were singing the original song to convey that they were finally free of them.Yes, the national anthem at the end of Stormblood was kinda cringe.

Just to hammer in the symbolism, I guess.
Measure of His Reach is kind of blah anyway, the cringe would settle one way or another.
I'm not sure what it is about the tune, but the first two notes of that song never fails in invoking memories of the old CCCP anthem, for me.
It's weird.
I doubt many Aussies even know the words of the first stanza of ours let alone the second stanza. But I do like the French one with it's rather vicious "qu'un sang impur, abreuve nos sillons!"

The only part that's really cringey to me is how they blatantly didn't even try to have the lip sync match the singing at all. Honestly, leaving their mouths closed would've looked less awkward. I'm used to not questioning where music is coming from in a video game.Yes, the national anthem at the end of Stormblood was kinda cringe.

Here's a hot take. I don't think there is anything wrong with having pride in where a person lives, doubly so in a work of fiction. Garlamand went from an oppressed nation of non magic users in a world of magic users to a force so fierce they make their enemies shirk. No kidding they have fans in their own ranks, lol. Take the rl filter out of works of fiction, it is better for the medium in the long run.
I actually didn't know it was the same song but with twisted lyrics, it makes even more sense then imo. It's more than blind patriotism. At least in that scene. I think the scene feels a bit too choreographed, it almost feels like a Disney song performance.
But the context in which they sing it itself I think makes perfect sense and it has a lot more meaning than in 99% of the cases people sing it irl lol.
