Dunno if these are hot takes, but I guess that's really for others to decide.

Fantasias shouldn't be a thing. You should be allowed to do all of that stuff at the beautician npc without spending real money. At the very least, a fantasia should be given upon completing each MSQ expansion.

6 private wards were unacceptable, and people who already owned homes in 6.1 should have been barred from relocating during the initial housing lottery, to give actual homeless players a better chance at literally anything at all. Likewise, if you win a home but don't actually decorate it, it should just go back into market so someone with taste can finally give your empty home the love it deserves. People who use "muh neighborhood" as justification for why the rest of us can't have instanced housing are just high on the idea of owning something rare; their neighborhood is dead and they probably don't even like their neighbor, but they'll never admit it.

Telling people to unsubscribe if they're not enjoying the game creates ripple effects where people quit because their friends quit and those people quit because their friends quit, and on and on. When Yoshi said to unsub and people began parroting it, I didn't see it as a good thing. People look at it and say "wow they really don't just see us as money" even though they charge you ten dollars to change your eye color and sell us raid themed mounts instead of just putting them in the base game, like come on now.

Retainers are stupid. Having a middleman to list an item on the marketboard is stupid. Ventures are just another tool used to sell mogstation items, and tying rare items to ventures is just bad game design since there's no actual gameplay behind ventures; you just send your guy out and hope he comes back with something good. There's nothing fun about that.

Moogle tome events should be an ongoing thing with cycling rewards, to give people who want something to do during the constant downtime, something to do.

Crystal tower alliance raids should be put in the MSQ roulette roster, and you should have to clear each 24-man raid tier before progressing to the next expansion. I'm sick of getting Syrcus tower every goddamned day man.

There should be a de-commend option in dungeons/raids that lets you lower someone's commend count by 1.

FF14 is a very overrated game, but just because it's overrated doesn't mean it's a bad game, it does have some faults, but it relatively is a good game overall. I always found FF14 Youtubers and Influencers to be really cringe. They're always one of three things, a over-dramatic and try-hard raider who has nothing better to do in their life, a bootlicker who only talk about the good parts of the game, or they have nothing to do besides degrade the game to its absolute limits.

Adding on to this, I feel like a lot of parts that are meant to be emotional for the story are quickly ruined by how Youtubers will be so dramatic over them in my opinion. We get it, your favorite character died, you had your chance to cry, now please move on and don't make 5 videos dedicated to that character, thanks.

Agreed, I don’t think FF14 is bad which people confuse for overrated. I see endless potential for the game and the beauty of MMOs is always subject to positive change and negative change. Influencers in general are always hype-men being the only one that has any balls to criticize the game is Zepla (her old rants on character choice and RNG were hilarious and valid) and the SAM edge lord who is one of those obligatory “I’m not racist, I hate everyone” brand of pretension. Instead of pouring development time for another theme park dungeon, they should take their time and develop content for their open world maps. Running the same dungeons 100x times is not fun, the activities that occur during a dungeon get boring after the first time.
They could add daily quests, create more chain quests, token gathering, more weeklys and connect old content (Diadem, Eureka, Extreme Trials, etc) to farm lasting gear. They should update existing maps so they get new paths or additional branches; caves and underground tunnels.
We're at 80+ Dungeons at this point and number is yet increasing. Running the newest dungeons now wont be fun in the next 3 years, running the 2.0 dungeons will be even worse.

As the title suggests, please share your hot takes on XIV here. I'll go first. The music really isn't all that memorable outside a couple of tracks. I keep many other games' osts in rotation in my regular listening, but not XIV. Furthermore, often after I hear it once when content is new I'll flip the music off and just pull up something of Spotify or YouTube.

Compensation should have been given after the 6.1 Housing lottery fuck up.

FFXIV should implement a chat filter so that if someone says "let them fight" in frontlines they get an instant ban

If you spam the chat in Crystalline Conflict, I will take the time to report you after the match. If you can be salty for something stupid like losing in a casual match (that's all I play), then I can be salty because you annoy me with the spam. :P It's against the rules anyway so I'm not sorry.
