I've been watching this for a while, now free login campaign as let me in I can post my hot topic:
-I hate the battle system. It lacks Depth and strategy, it's just 1,2,3, dot filler here or bust, I can't play DPS in this game because it makes me fall asleep, but healers combat isn't good either, I have moved to FFXI which the combat and subjob system makes battles interesting
- I hate the Holy Trinity in this game: Final Fantasy 14 jobs feels Samey and Lack distinctive features that makes them feel different and stand out from each other, Red mage doesn't feel like a red mage, where is the cures? Haste? enfeebling magic spells? why does red mage get a cure so late (level 54) in comparison to it's other Final fantasy counter parts? FFXI red mage gets cure like levels 4 and has alot of enfeebling magics and cures ( up to cure 4) XIV red mage is the worst red mage out of the series and the job system in this game is terrible.
- I hate the Scions. Why do they have to follow me like a fly on Poop everywhere? like I'm an adventure, I should be on Adventures instead of having these people following me and praising me and my every move or anything I do for that matter. Let them leave me alone. let us meet new people to help on our adventures. FFXI did an amazing job meeting new people from Different expansion like Lisette or Lion, and for the first time, the story NPCs wasn't praising me for everything I did, and it wasn't all about me in the storylines
it was a breath of fresh air to honest. Yeah Ystola is the poster girl for XIV but so is Shantotto in XI, but you don't see her following me all the time like a lost puppy, and always in my face.
I hate the Gear system in this game, it's very linear and uninteresting. Bigger ilvl = bigger damage which that's all it has to offer, meanwhile in XI, all the gear is unique and offer different effects and enchantment to wear some level 75 gear is very useful ( e.g White mage main hand level 75 Yagrush- makes all status removal spells AoE 100% of the time)
I hate xiv and what it's become, AST 3.0 and 4.0 was my favorite and SE crushed it for homogenized to be on pair with other heals
for a game like XIV to be all about " Balance" this game has a lot of issues balancing jobs
but that makes the jobs very boring, there will always be a meta
xiv no longer interests me and I'm loving XI alot

The Apocalypse should've hit the entire planet, or at least the great three continents. Not just Thavnair and Garlemald, which was already a dead place.
And no, not just a few turned mobs, like in the role story.
Would've been great if for the duration of the story, the player would see the affected zones with the Apocalypse-weather. But that would require phasing, like WoW has since WotLK 14 years ago.
Looking back at my dislike of Endwalker I think I finally got to the root of the issue when looking back at it all. They are horrible about what story beats they elect to promote in advertising for expansion and those showcased at fanfests as super hype for next expansion points.
I am reminded Shadowbringers initially at a fanfests had "Take the fight to the Garlean Empire" as a selling point. This was only further messed up with EW with "The end of the Hydaelyn Zodiark arc" and "The Final days are upon us" when both really aren't heavily the point of the main narrative or at least not showcased as heavily as all the promotional stuff would lead you to believe. I do want to replay EW while trying to put those expectations out of my mind to see if it is any better.

I don't enjoy how events with Zodiark played out, and having to fight Hydaelyn.
I've been of the mind that we would've been better served by Zodiark being a much bigger threat than he was in the end. In fact I'd have preferred it if Hydaeyln's 'test' was NOT us having to fight her, but her observing how we'd fare fighting the actual Zodiark.
That didn't just bother you. Zodiark had been slowly built up for like 9 years only to get stomped in 10 minutes like he's some minor antagonist for a small zone story, to then be replaced by even bigger bad that gets pulled out of a magic hat. Sure it subverted my expectations, doesn't make it good though.I don't enjoy how events with Zodiark played out, and having to fight Hydaelyn.

Ever since around the middle of Shadowbringers I've had the opinion that Stormblood was the best expansion we ever got and probably will get. The MSQ was pretty bad until around 4.3 but the MSQ took up maybe 5% of my playtime and the actual pve gameplay experience was great.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that the most anticipated and long-awaited encounter in the game, with supposedly the most ancient and powerful being in-universe, wound up as the early game level X3 trial against a soulless puppet the sidekick villain introduced one (1) expansion ago put on as easily as you would a pair of socks before being obliterated and becoming irrelevant entirely, and I feel very tired.I don't enjoy how events with Zodiark played out, and having to fight Hydaelyn.
