Blue Circles and Black Boxes appearing during gameplay

Hi there, first time posting here. If wrong area, please fix.

My boyfriend has been having issues recently with black boxes and various shades of blue circles showing up during his time on FFXIV. We're at wit's end at this point, cause we've tried everything we can think of. Any information would be helpful.

Certainly looks like a graphical anomaly. I take it you've tried:

1. Graphic Driver update
2. Repair game files
3. Disabled any overlays
4. Tried without any recording/etc.
5. Tried different monitor/monitor cable?

Could also be overheating graphics card - would be worth checking temp when these appear.

We have not tried a new monitor cable, thats a good suggestion. thanks for the response <3

im split between this being a driver issue and the gpu chip being bad, but an underspec gpu can produce these errors as well.

Those are symptoms of a dying graphics card, mainly texture/GDR memory.
You can try underclocking/undervolting the card a bit and see if it clears up or not, but regardless of either, it is highly likely you will need to shop for a replacement.

One other thing to try is to uninstall the graphics card drivers and software, then use DDU to clean all orphaned drivers and settings, then install fresh drivers from the card manufacturer's website.
DDU is https://www.guru3d.com/files-details...-download.html a tool used to remove all traces of display drivers, settings, and software, as the OS's uninstaller or the graphics card driver installers do not fully clean out glitched, corrupted, orphaned, or mixed-version driver files and settings, which will cause issues when updating or replacing drivers.
