The dungeon with orbs and pedestals is Sunken Temple of Quarn (Hard). Old Totorak had branching routes in the first bit, lots of packs that poisoned in the second, and Leaden pop-able obstacles in the third (with spider web walls). Honestly it may have been a maze the first time around but you can just open the map and use one route 99.9% of the time. NM Sunken Temple is admittedly less of a hallway. That's the one with the orb keys, right? I know they removed a lot of the ground AoEs that were present in one part of the dungeon but I might be mistaking toto-rak for the dungeon that has the FFX style orbs and pedestals assuming they are two different dungeons, lol.
Mortal Fist
I was thinking about old Toto-Rak then. While it's true that there is an optimized route that most parties use to clear as fast as they can, you have to admit a new player who was getting into the game back in the day was surprised about how involved the dungeon was compared to older style dungeons in other games during that era. Now it seems so sterile but considering the game feels very sterile now I guess it does make sense. The dungeon with orbs and pedestals is Sunken Temple of Quarn (Hard). FF13 - universally panned for being a "hallway simulator"I was thinking about old Toto-Rak then. FF14 - universally praised, dungeons are hallway simulators
Make it make sense!
Honestly the plaques aren't fun. Whenever I'm tanking I skip them, and I *always* let people know they can skip them when I'm not tanking. The "fun" is spending an extra 5 minutes, typically, trying to position the heads and failing because one DPS just doesn't wanna stop hitting, or the tank never positions correctly, etc etc... for one extra bit of treasure.
FF13 - Single-player game where you're only expected to go through those hallways once.
FF14 - MMO where you're expected to run those hallways repeatedly in daily roulette form.
It's (arguably) more acceptable here because after the first couple of runs, most people just want to get their roulette rewards and get it over with.
Had a tank in Endsinger EX (are we still saying EX3?) who understandably thought tank LB3 wouldn't be enough to prevent a tower wipe after losing people to double Fatalism (which probably happens the majority of the time) because of the strong bleed right after, but I had already seen it work (even with both healers dead, thanks to having a RDM). After it happens yet again, he whips out the LB, healers pull through the bleed, and we clear. Dunno if out of pure shock or because something came up, but he left after that. True story.
I've tanked LB3'd there and had the healers get mad because "it wiped the raid since I stole the healer lb" even though if you use healerlb there everyone still dies because of being animation locked for towers. it's just a real pain in the ass mech to deal with.Had a tank in Endsinger EX (are we still saying EX3?) who understandably thought tank LB3 wouldn't be enough to prevent a tower wipe after losing people to double Fatalism (which probably happens the majority of the time) because of the strong bleed right after, but I had already seen it work (even with both healers dead, thanks to having a RDM). One of the healers did that during a previous wipe. They really might have all been shocked by tank LB3 having more use.
Leviathan on my baby tank alt. Got yelled at by the other tank for......picking up the adds that spawned on my side of the platform. I guess the off tank is only supposed to pick up the tail and nothing else? At least it was a new kind of stupid, I suppose.
