Had a run today in Qitana Ravel. I noticed the ninja was far away from the fight. They were only doing ranged attacks, which was weird. I noticed they also hung back a lot as we made our way through the dungeon. And they would randomly run around during the fight and about twice died because of it. On the final boss they kept angling their target on me. Was weird af. But I was their only target, no one else in the group. So I have to assume they are all friends and were certifying the nonsense. Even when I stayed back after the duty ended to gpose with the npcs they remained, like they were specifically there to watch me or something. Weird creepy trolly behavior.

Saw the rare dps in need for lvling so pounced on it with picto (trying to get it to 100 on my main) got sirensong and although I thought I played badly (never died tho) due to being uhh... impaired >.> got all the comms for clever use of lb lol

Interphos ex - please, read the indications given by the group search tools. This tool is very well done in FF, so you might as well make the most of it.

I found myself in a group that I wanted to help clean up the fight, as a healer. The PF specified ‘enrage exp’. Perfect, so I thought I'd give it the final push they needed, since I'd already cleaned up the fight myself a long time before. I had time, patience... But not enough, that evening, to find myself in a group where no less than three players had absolutely none of the ‘enrage exp’ required.

One of the players, in particular, caused 3/4 of the wipes, right from the meteor phase. When some people (including me) pointed out to him that it wasn't nice for the others to parasitise a more advanced group, he brushed it off with a good old-fashioned ‘we're all new one day’. THAT'S NOT THE PROBLEM. The people who want to clean the fight, the people who are there to help included, join a group according to the time and attention it will require. It's an abuse of our time to try to fit in and pray that no one will notice the many mistakes you've made. At least have the decency to apologise when everyone around you realises that it will take two hours, not one, and that you'll need the attention of an F1 driver to keep you alive. If I had the patience that evening to give a helping hand to a group that had to train ‘from start’, I would have signed up for the other groups specifying ‘from start’. Not in the one that just had to get through the last phase.

This story is from Tuesday, but it's still on my mind because of how ridiculous it was.

I log in to get my Cruiserweight NORMAL weeklies out of the way, and work my way through them with no issue as usual until M7 pops.

I go in expecting it to go just as well as the other fights went, but it's the one I get in progress most often so you know, some flubs are to be expected.

What I do not expect is for one of the SMNs (We had three) to start complaining rudely at the others for overriding buffs. I get it man, it's not optimal, but you cannot expect randos in the DF to coordinate buffs perfectly, least of all when you have three of the same job. Having a meltdown over that is just stupid. The other healer says "Chill, they probably didn't notice." and then it's quiet again.

Now, after they complained about the others I expected to see perfect play from them. I didn't expect that same SMN complaining about optimization with randoms to THEN eat EVERY single dogdable aoe that they could, and then just not bother to get knocked over to the safe platform.

So yeah, me and the other healer rezzed them, A LOT.

But you know what we didn't do? Complain about it. We did out best to keep getting them up, even though at a point it was feeling to me they were just a sandbag.

We get to a point where the other healer died to something too and I panic cause Brutal impact is about to cast, I KNOW the timeline of the fight. The rude SMN is down again and the one melee, a RPR is also down. I'd used every CD I had already and I wasn't confident that I would be ok alone since that aoe mech adds more hits each time you see it and we were seeing a lot of hits. (The RPR also liked to eat every aoe and collect vuln stacks btw, but I was much less annoyed about them doing it cause they were melee and they hadn't been rude like the SMN had.)

So I healer LB3, to get everyone up and back to full health.

SMN and RPR die again, and the SMN immediately says "Waste of LB3" and the RPR says "Yup"

and it's one of my biggest pet peeves when people that die constantly then try to tell the people that are up and still alive how to play, so this put me in a foul mood and then we wipe cause we don't have enough bodies in the tower. The SMN has some other snide remarks, and it makes me even more mad. I don't remember exactly what they said, but I had some words ready for them right then and I begin typing.

The other healer said to them "If you want to heal, queue as one next time."

I typed "It's funny how the people that eat the most aoes have the most critiques."

and the other healer says something like "Right, acting like it's easy." which I DO think it's easy. When you don't have people eating EVERY aoe that they can. This is a NORMAL MODE RAID. There are NO HARD NORMAL MODE RAIDS.

One of the tanks says "Everyone shut up, I want to finish this."

And I was pissed and replied mid new pull "You think we don't?"

This next run goes a little better. The SMN and RPR eat a few less aoes, and don't miss getting knocked over this time. Who knew that doing the MECHANICS would mean you didn't get vuln stacks and weakness all the time. But they do still eat aoes, as a matter of fact I have a funny clip of them both getting rezzed, topped of and then just eating stuff and dying again on the new run too.

I'll keep it forever to remember them by.

but whatever, we cleared it, and we roll on the loot.

And the other tank who had been quiet up to that point, but I notice was from the same server as the SMN (Jenova, why is it always people from Jenova...) says "You can't heal a raid with no materia."

and I'm just like.

WHAT??? HUH??????????

I can't believe what I'm reading cause like, there is no way they're serious right now. NO AMOUNT OF DET, DH and CRIT WAS GOING TO SAVE SOMEONE FROM STANDING IN THE AOES.

NOT TO MENTION I DIDN'T HAVE PEOPLE DYING THAT MUCH ON DAY ONE, and I did it WITH WORST GEAR AND I HEALED IT JUST FINE THEN.

The other healer says "We did."

and all I can think to say is "Lmao this is normal mode bro"

I really wish I would have mentioned that I had less trouble with my first day blind runs than I did with their AOE eating friend.

I can own up to my mistakes no problem, but I cannot heal someone that is dead because they stand in everything.

For a more funny one, the next thing I ran was M6 and I was distracted at the end of the fight still thinking about "You can't heal a raid with no materia" and near the end I zoned out and zoned back in right when the fire stacks came out and didn't preposition and the fire stacks were overlapped, so I was going to go run and sac and ended up taking one of the tanks with me.

I apologized profusely cause I wasn't paying attention and it was my fault and the tank just laughed it off and said it was their fault cause they were still on the bridge.

So just recently got out of an alliance roulette run in Void Ark, I was on my alt female elezen just doing this for exp. Run goes fairly well, a few deaths because people aren't paying attention to aoes and markers, and we clear.

While I was waiting for loot rolls, one of the dps pipes up in party chat saying my elezen is ugly as f*ck before immediately dipping. No one asked you bro. I got my loot, left the instance and just logged out for the day.

I have no idea who urinated in your Cheerios, bud, and hope you have a better day to NOT comment as to how ugly someone's race looks in a game.

So I want to point out something.

Mechanics are not hard.

Many of them, if not all, a lot of players have seen before in some form or fashion as they progress through the game. Fights are not hard, especially when you've got a good healer or two plus a good tank or two to help. When everyone does the mechanics correctly, the fight progresses and you clear. Easy right?

Then please tell me why, oh god why, do you just stand there like you've got a dial-up brain in mechanics and just repeatedly eat them in M8N? There was a pair of dps (a NIN and RDM) in there that I had to constantly scrape off the floor, and at least 5 times the RDM in our party let my raises time out. Yes. They let the Raise I dropped on them time out. The amount of mp and other resources I dumped on these two would make a BLM blush. The rest of them, including my cohealer, had some serious trouble with staying alive.

Counting your toes does not count as doing mechanics. If you have to stop dpsing to do a mechanic to survive, then do that. DEAD DPS DO NO DPS.

I also want to point out that, if you just lie on the floor, that's one less person to help take the stack, and at minimum you need 5 people with heavy mitigations to cover it. And I mean HEAVY MITIGATIONS. Your Addle/Feint count as mitigations, and you need to make use of them, dps. It really shouldn't be THAT HARD to read your toolkit.

If y'all are wondering, yes, we wiped 4 times because people kept failing mechanics repeatedly, three people left, and our deadweight of a RDM was on the floor for a good quarter of each pull. Of the three people, one pulled a forced dc, most likely to avoid eating a penalty and have me kick them.

To the person that forced-dc'ed to avoid a penalty: you suck. Learn to be a team player.

To the NIN that tried but kept eating mechanics: mechanics over dps. I'd much rather heal you than have to dump yet another 2400 mp to scrape your butt off the floor.

To the RDM that kept timing out my raises and causing us to wipe: Get off of RDM so I don't prioritize you for raising to help raise. I dumped far too much acceptable MP on you when I could've used that mp to help keep the party alive.

To the two people that left in a huff: thanks for nothing.

To the rest of the party that stayed and tried: y'all are good cookies.

MSQ roulette: Praetorium. Queued as healer. Big warning sign when I'm higher on the threat table than either of the two DPS - a red mage and a black mage.
Can feel it coming as we slowly work our way to the end boss.
They're not incompetent thankfully and can avoid mechanics, but the damage just isn't there.
Big golden boy does his 4-way split and starts charging his blade.
Can't kill them in time. Wipe one. Twice.
Considering dropping since there's really nothing we can do if they can't do more damage.
Eventually convince one of them to drop a rank-1 LB, and barely scrape through the damage check.
Took a break from MSQ roulette after that one.

Lev X0 roulette. Aetherochemical Research Facility.
Neat, hadn't seen the rework.
Easy enough, get to last boss. It's a long fight, the dps are going up and down like wack-a-moles but we enter phase 2.
DPS check time, and they're both freshly revived with about 25% of their main stat remaining. Not a prayer of passing.
Wipe again. They're really struggling with the boss mechanics.
As healer I'm doing all I can to keep them up, Rescueing them into the safe-zones, though they immediately run back out to get double-tap 1 shot regardless.
Barely make it through the third time.
I don't queue Lev X0 roulette anymore.

Last time I queued for MSQ roulette I got castrum meridianum.
It went as normal but a bit after the first boss suddenly the entire landscape breaks apart and reforms to be Bozja? The music changed to a remix of Wind on the Plains too and Noah van Gabranth kept showing up. It was very surreal.

There are NO HARD NORMAL MODE RAIDS.

Mechanics are not hard.

Just a quick reminder that something being easy for you, does not mean that it's easy for everyone.

I for one struggle with normal trials and raids, as the sheer volume of visual clutter, counterintuitive mechanics, and unillegible boss emotes simply overwhelms me. I usually can do the first half of a fight without problems, but as soon as the boss starts firing 17 different AEs all at the same time, I start dying.

That being said, I always try to do my best - avoid dying as far as possible, help the healers with damage reduction shields or rezzes, and so on. And of course I would never mouth off to others in the group - being a carry myself, I'm surely not in the position to tell others how to play

And I just had a very strange cruiserweight/M4 Normal run. He summons two wolve heads, counts to 100, then kills you. This happened twice to us. Lots of back and forth in the chat, we try it a third time... wolve heads dead on 50%, easy kill. All DDs were up in the first 2 trys, so no idea what those people were doing...
