Decided to level BRD. After not playing it beyond getting it to 80 in ShB and just here and there when I didn’t feel like doing weeklies or something on DNC, I am having difficulties breaking my old SB BRD habits. Clipping Mage’s feels like a crime against humanity.

Anyways, I got Seat of Sacrifice in trial roulette. The last few times I’ve gotten this fight, it hasn’t been too meme-y so I was expecting it to go relatively smooth. Maybe the new guy would die a few times to mechanics. No big deal.

Well—we never actually cleared, because someone kept griefing during the ATM button spam.

The first time, it was the new person. They must not have realized that the ATM was as long as it was and failed. Spoke up about it in chat. Apologized. Whatever. It happens. We laughed about it and moved on. But then it happened 3 more times. The SGE and PLD asked if people maybe needed more explanations on what buttons they could press. I offered the options controller users had (literally just mash your D-pad and Circle/X/Triangle/Square in a circle, and the bar never moves). But then we just kept failing. People agreed someone was griefing—but there’s no way to determine who caused you to fail the mechanic so we couldn’t just kick them and keep going. We agreed to one last pull—and failed. Of course.

Eventually, I just took the L and left, allowing others to abandon with no penalty if they wanted. (We couldn’t Vote Abandon because it had not been 15 minutes yet.) Dinner was ready, and I was kind of losing my patience at that point. That’s probably the second time in my 6 years of playing that I’ve actively taken a penalty. I feel bad for the new person—I really am sorry. But it was just ridiculous. I don’t understand why people think purposely failing and griefing is funny.

Kind of sucks there’s no way to determine who failed the ATM. I know what happened in my group is not the norm—but knowing would have at least allowed us to kick the offender and move on so the new person could continue the story. And not have to queue again. Oh well. What can you do.

I hope they didn’t have to wait for too long.

Mashing like crazy actually makes it harder for people than it needs to be!
As long as you keep pressing buttons in a rythm, you'll be fine.

The lower the bar gets, the higher it jumps each button press.
Just leisurely press it in the rythm of the clock in the background and you'll be absolutely fine.

I usually eat something or even drink during it, all "keep pressing button" ATMS don't need mashing (same goes for in from the cold).
The ones you have to fill in time need faster mashing than that bar, funnily enough.

I still can't believe that was never changed.
One person failing a mechanic in a normal trial shouldn't cause full party wipe like that.
It should just do what every other trial with a mechanic like that does and just kill off the people who can't mash fast enough, like what happens on the hades fight.
Having a mechanic like that in a normal trial just enables people to hold entire groups hostage.

I can just image the frustration felt by the people who have limited playtime and just want to get to the rest of the story after waiting half an hour in queue only to get trolled until the duty times out because someone is too lazy to press a button a few times.

I have to respectfully disagree. It’s not any harder just randomly spamming keyboard or controller presses than pressing a couple when the bar gets lower. That’s not really relevant to anything I’m saying though. My main complaint is how easy it is for one person to grief seven others—and the others have no way to deal with it since the game doesn’t give any indication as to who caused the mechanic to fail. Since the devs made it reliant on all eight people clearing the ATM, one can very easily hold the entire group hostage. As I saw today.

Is it the norm? No. But could there be a preventative measure put in place? Absolutely. I think it would be the better thing to do. Be it allowing players to see who failed or just not making it reliant on all 8 clearing successfully, doesn’t really matter to me.

This wasn’t an issue of someone struggling to press buttons. It was 100% someone griefing. You don’t fail the ATM 4 times otherwise.

I know i know, but telling people to mash the everliving hell out of whatever also doesn't help some people. You just don't need to, so i still dont see the point of spreading this misinformation that makes it harder for people than it needs be. I press it twice in the rythm of the clock and thats way easier to me than thinking i have to keep it as full as possible, at least to me, i guess.

I never had it that bad thankfully, but i do not MIND it per se, but it's weird that the person that does it just gets away with it.
But then again, bad people and griefers get away with way too much in this game, as sad as it is. Wouldn't want bad people to get genuine help after all, they didnt ask for it.
And finding the griefer can be hard without certain... things, you know...

Like, if you would SEE everybody BUT the person that fails break free and THEN you fail, you can really just tell who it was and how often, which would call them out by design. There's only so many times one can realisticly fail something that basically needs normal typing speed to pass.

Everybody failing because of it is fine as long as you know who failed it, ya know? In MY opinion at least. It's really just annoying if somebody intentionally griefs so i get that.

I just will never agree with the mashing part.
But i agree on seeing who it was better.
Just sucks that the game is afraid to call people way too bad for the content they are doing and or just let griefers do what they want.

Today I had the fun time of using AST lb3 twice in Puppet's Bunker while dragging them and an alt through it for the first time. But hoo boy on the third boss it's blinding in that room to use it in.

Note to self: turn down some of the bloom effects before running that again.

I assumed this was obvious to tanks but yeah when healing I learned how wrong I was.
    Thankfully shielding doesn’t draw aggro

I genuinely hate having to kick people in PF but when it comes to savage, people are either overconfident in their prog level and/or just plainly not cut out for that content yet. I've been trying to push P3 clear for two weeks now. My static is working out kinks in FoA, but we only raid 2 hours at a time which is turning out to be slower than some of us want. We do extra prog after our raid nights are done but oh boy this tier I get to live the PF memes. DPS that almost wipe us on adds just due to no button pressing, and some who are plainly unsure of what to do yet cannot stomach any responsibility for it. Classic "healer's fault I died on FoF, no heals" (everyone was topped off and shielded) then proceeds to ask where they need to be for FoF. A RPR who killed people on several different mechanics in phase 1 and once I kicked them kept messaging me demanding I kick the WAR who was peforming mechanics just fine and let him back in, despite him being also one of the reasons ads were almost a wipe everytime. I dunno how people prog entire tiers like this, I'm losing my mind.

I feel your pain, I'd offer to help but we play on different Data Centers .
Both my first clear last week in P3S was with a static and also my reclear this week.

The first one seem'd really happy to have me they probably had a lot of bad experience and it was a couple of hours before reset in the middle of the night.
Lets just say I got quite a lot of praise when we got the kill lol, I think we were both very grateful for each other to have gotten the clear finally.
It gets way better when you get the cleared tag.
I am starting P4S this week my hope is that P3S acted like a wall for a lot of players but probably not tbh.

    Niiiiiiiice, my luck is turning.
P1-3S clear with one group, MCH just uh.
I dunno, brainfart maybe but on the last arrows in P2S we got paired and he decided to run to the group when he had short arrow and killed us both.
He was standing correctly then he just suddenly in last couple of secs ran to us I dunno why and he never said anything either.
BLM also DC in P1S but I managed to push out lb3 the moment before he went offline and we killed without.
P3S someone died on Fountains because they were standing in the way of the birds.

Outside of that tho for the most part it was clean and I wasn't late this time cleared it on reset day.
I even won the leg piece on NIN now all I need is the chest and weapon + a coating and two twine ( got 3 books III tho, hoping for winning a twine next week ).
Have the 600 weap already tho so the 605 isn't a massive deal.

Next tier imma try and not be lazy and get into it on week 1 and get early clears.
It's so much better when you've got the clear tag.
