In last week's Triple Triad Tournament Rowena's Cup classic, I ended up facing an opponent who has all Garlean cards. Unfortunately for my opponent, the "Descension" rule was in place. There was no plus, same, or reverse rule. I ended up winning decisively.

[I actually placed high enough so I can get a guaranteed Tidus card. Haven't gotten this card for my main character for several years].

To that healer who got mad at someone for putting a "target to ignore" mark on the person who was DC'd and dead and said "Sorry about this but don't swiftcast them until they reconnect": chill.

You don't need to be offended for them on their behalf. That was embarrassing.

Not sure what most of that means but I'm guessing Decension means it locked out or weakened Garlean cards?

Ye, Descension decreases the attack of a card type (so like Scions, Primals, Beastmen, etc) by 1 every time a card belonging to that type is played. It applies even to the cards already on the board, it sucks ass

Descension is the reason my main card deck doesnt have any "typed" cards. Though i also have a special Ascension deck(the opposite effect - cards get stronger then more of their type are played) for if that ruleset is in effect.

Didn't happen in a duty, but a FC friend was teaching one of the sprout tanks in my FC that YPYT is correct. Pretty sure I upset a lot of people by stepping in and telling them that it's perfectly fine if a DPS or Healer runs ahead.

They tried to counter by saying that some people literally just sit at the wall waiting to run ahead, and I pointed out that while these people do suck, and they don't really help usually, you can't just switch to single target abilities to try to lose aggro on them.

Not my friend, just a friend of the FC. I don't see how it's a disservice. YPYT is against the rules, and teaching a sprout tank to shirk a DPS for running ahead of you or single target to let aggro fall off is poor behavior?

Are you actually defending YPYT behavior?

I will run ahead every other pull but only if I'm a job that has Arms Length. I want to be able to put slow on the mobs and drag them back to the tank. That way the tank gets soloed mobs on every wall to wall and not every other wall to wall.

Bloodbath and arms length keeps me up while I'm help mitigation so it helps both the tanks and the healer.

I'm not saying YPYT is good but it also isn't good to just let people do whatever random BS they want because they're impatient and selfish.

At the risk of sounding "both sides"-y, they're both bad behaviours and sprouts should be taught that instead of making them believe one thing or the other is more or less rude.

The disservice is that you are making the community sound uptight and arguemetive while also saying its normal and fine to rush through things to sprouts who may not grasp mmo roles and culture/unwritten rules.

YPYT is bad but so is acting outside of your role as your unexplained and unexpected movement and gameplay choices can cause those around you to mess up and slow down as well. The point of the game is to cooperate and you're discouraging this.

I am exhausted by the amount of people who think rushing on ahead will somehow magically speed people up. You getting your dualcast or other timed proc off means diddly squat if your healers have to heal your ass (or themselves) instead of DPS or when half the party hangs back instead of attack while waiting for the tank to waddle on over.

True speed is when you're all playing your roles and not when you're forcing people to improvise around your impatience and people need to get over themselves and realize they're not the only person playing.
