Depends how long you were soloing it for. If it was like 10% ish or less, than yeah that’s fine. If everyone wiped to a mech halfway in and you spent 30 minutes soloing it, than yeah you were a douche.Rest of the party bit the dust on the second boss of Dead Ends. I proceeded to solo it because WAR is fair and balanced. Got vote kicked as soon as combat ended. Got a nasty tell afterward calling me rude (and a few other words that'll get me banned if I post them on the forums) for ruining the fight by not giving people the chance to learn it. Kek.
3-4 minutes soloing it. T'was only a dungeon boss. Judging by their reactions and the fact they were on the same server and in the same FC, I figure we can make some suppositions here. The healer of the bunch was wearing the BK crown and Ultimate Legend title, and they had a couple pieces of savage gear from the previous tier. I know for a fact it was the first time in there for at least one of them. Best guess? The two new guys were recruit-a-friended in by the healer and riding healer queues through all the story stuff.
They were really hyper-focused on the missed "learning opportunity." I figure it's pretty safe to assume that was the core issue.

It sounds like they were rude about it, but I'll admit I think that's quite a bit longer than I would've pushed it solo'ing. I mean, that's longer than the entire boss fight might take, normally; it would have arguably been faster to reset and let them take another try.
Generally, if it's going to take more than about 30 more seconds to solo down a boss, I'd choose the reset and let others back into the fight; the exception being if the people on the ground are cheering on the attempt and clearly game for me to keep going.
I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.Originally Posted by Packetdancer

The people I play with and I always cheer on someone soloing a boss after we screw the pooch.
It's like watching Baryshnikov dance, and they earned the right to do it if they want to.
I had a situation like this when I was tanking that big rotating book boss in the Great Gubal Library. Everybody else had died to various things, and because the boss doesn't really hit that hard outside of AoEs that I was already familiar with, it seemed like I could probably just solo the rest of the fight on my own. But when I realized that it was going to take A WHILE for that to happen, I told the group "I'm just gonna wipe, I feel like this is boring for the rest of you."
There comes a point where it's a matter of: 1) If I do screw up and die at some point, then I've REALLY wasted a bunch of time for nothing, and 2) If I succeed, it's really not all that impressive anyhow. What am I trying to prove?
