Since the original thread has finally been closed, I thought I'd start a new one in case anyone is interested in keeping it going.

I was actually going to respond to a post there from Denji because I wanted to second it.

if you're a new tank or you paid for boosts please please PLEASE keep in mind that once you stop your pull, you've stopped until everything's dead. you're wasting cooldowns, you're wasting combos and ley lines and ruining people's positionals and your impatience is actually making things take longer.

please, continue to make big pulls. but once you stop, you -stop-. casters especially don't like it when they have a few seconds to pop off a proc and you've already moved out of their range, nor do healers like it when you move out of their heal/shield aoes.

if you stop. just. fricking. stop. please.

This is especially bad when I'm on AST and the tank moves everything out of my Earthly Star.

I put a PF listing up for Tsukuyomi EX a few days ago, hoping to get a few mats to sell. It filled relatively quickly. Everyone was level 90, at least 535 gear. One tank (Warrior) to keep her in place, 7 DPS. RDM, MNK, DRG, SAM, RPR, RPR, and me, SMN. Before we entered into the instance, I quickly shot off that we were going to hold DPS at 85% so we could skip the moon phase. A chorus of "kk", "okie dokie", and "ye ok" fills my ears. I smile.

We go in. We whittle her down to 86%. I use my specially made "Hold 85% <se.6>" macro.

Queue 3 of our party running around like headless chickens, the one warrior we had to keep her in place kept hitting her, our monk kept punching, our dragoon kept jumping, our red mage kept verattacking, and we didn't get to skip the moon phase. Alright, whatever, I'll explain after what exactly I mean by holding DPS at 85%. At least we're geared enough that it shouldn't matter too much, right?...

Right?

... um... guys... say "Right?"

Nearly everyone dies. The tank is alive due to sheer WAR beastiness and I'm still alive because I know what to do during the moon phase, but everyone else? Kaput. Gone from existence. Their souls have left their bodies and their bodies are all lying around me. Me and Mr. Warrior Big Bones slowly whittle her down from 25% to 0%. I attempt to get at least the red mage up, so that they could rez. They never accept it. I'm assuming they've AFK'd in shame. My summoner rotation is screwed to high hell, I'm skipping legos to hit burst phase quicker, the grunts from Warrior McYellsalot filling my ears. Never have I felt more defeated, yet more alive. Finally, she's dead and the screen goes black. I open the treasure chest. There's a Celestial Kimono Remnant, a weapon, and a mount. I pass on the mount because I already have it. I need on the material, and greed on the weapon.

I get nothing. Warrior gets nothing. Out from the shadows comes our red mage, dead before we even hit 25%. "OMG Rolled 95 on doggo and 90 on the mat!!!!"

My knees grow weak, arms heavy, moms spaghetti.

We leave the instance. The red mage leaves the party. Then our monk. Then our dragoon. Warrior MrMan stays, and we watch as everyone else slowly says their goodbyes. Thoughts of explaining what I meant by "Hold DPS at 85%" fly right out of my head as I stare at my screen in bitter agony.

As the last of the party leaves, Mr. War gives me his parting words. "GG im tired gtg tyfp." I respond, dejectedly... "o/ ty for joining!"

The party disbands. I log off and go to sleep. 10 minutes felt like 10 hours.

"Oh it's great. I'm playing it and it's fun and cool and I killed some people with it in Orbonne and it's slick--

"Yeah...so you know that mech that Cid has where you get targeted and this circle of red death follows ya?"

"...oh no..."

"Yeah...so I might have used ingress the wrong way and accidentally teleported right past my party in their direction...everybody died."

"Really?"

"No. Tank survived."

"Oh that's good."

"Then she died to auto-attacks after we immediately switched to add phase cuz the red circle of death clipped her like 3 times."

"Well, surely you cleared the fight, right?"

"uh...one of the alliances was dead pre-add phase so..."

"Wow."

"But we restarted the fight and cleared it afterwards no problem."

"So what have we learned?"

"Let the backflip derps to the professionals like RDM and DRG".

Oh boy, I hope Venting 2.0: A Realm Reborn has better map design.

So you know how there's a few mechanics in the void ark series of alliance raids, where you get tethered to one another from an AOE and people have to break the tethers so the tethered can move and act again?

You know how sometimes, two people have a tether so small that nobody notices and they're left like that?

Turns out, if your tether buddy dies, the tether graphic vanishes but you still are frozen.

And that is how I almost died in the Irminsul and Sawtooth fight.

Also used the term "mucus buddies", which I will copyright for further development.

hehe, I haven't Ingressed off a platform yet, but I know it will happen one day!

I used Egress in EX2..right into the death wall. Haven't backflipped off a platform in quite a while...but I do still have my DRG to level, so it may come due.

I jumped off the platform on the EDEN version of water snake as reaper, right after i survived the mechanics that actually broke the platform. It happens... does not feel good, but you just gotta move on. Maybe laugh a bit at yourself, cause what else can you do?

When I was leveling Reaper, and when I was messing around with Ingress/Egress at max level to see what I could or couldn't get away with, I got into all sorts of trouble. Probably my "finest" moment was Soul of the Creator normal mode, when I teleported straight into a tank buster and died instantly. The tank got a kick out of it which is good, because I was laughing at myself too. lol
