What's the strategy for the Ifrit fight? The hard mode one... I'll be using PLD, i may or may not be tanking.
Don't want to hear about exploits using all LNC or wtv, just the official strategy, what and what not to do.
Thank you!

If you are PLD you only want to tanking(otherwise you are wasting a DPS slot)
Tank him where he spawns your back to the wall, when he jumps run forwards a bit and then pull him back, as a Tank you need to keep him positioned correctly otherwise plumes will appear in the wrong place and kill your party members.
Nice, thank you for the reply. Is that really all i need to do? Sounds quite simple. Should i be able to tank him well in full AF?If you are PLD you only want to tanking(otherwise you are wasting a DPS slot)

What Jinko said, it's crazy important that you maintain that proper position. Also that, assuming you don't class stack THMs, you heal melee DDs, don't push it all on the WHMs, let them heal you while you get melees it'll help your enmity generation a ton, which in turn will allow your DDs to go a full tilt more of the time, if nothing else it'll speed things up.
I've also found that if you can get one WHM to focus on melee DD buffs and the other to only heal you and then leave you a small margin to self heal it'll also help keep hate on you and off of your whms. Course if you go all THM it's easy peasy since only you should be getting wailed on.

Paladin are very usefull for those who use Melee DDs (Monks mostly), always pop up divine to give melee DDs regen ability all the time.
And the chances of getting the sword?
Hi Onidemon,
Been a while since i have done Ifrit but not much should have changed here are some pics to help you out
1 = Tank
2 & 3 = healer/ranged dps
4= Melee DPS
5 & 6 = ranged dps
we prefer 2 & 3 being healer only
here is another older set up that is pretty useful as well
not sure who made the above, it wasn't me so ill take no credit for it and its a bit out dated but some of the info is good like the swipe info most everything else is outdated.
